Doxy Mono vs Doxy Hyclate

Hi all-

I have a question...I switched pharmacies and ended up with the Doxy Mono instead of Doxy Hyclate? I looked it up and it said Doxy mono is easier on the stomach cuz it breaks down in the intestine? Also not to take with food? Is the food part true? Man that would be great. I hate having to eat. Also is it just as effective as each other for lyme?

Thanks Traveler for the reply. I'm glad I saw this because it is making me sick, I even had called the pharmacist and he couldn't answer my questions.

This pharmacy i got it from has a sticker on it about not taking it within two hours of magnesium, iron or zinc. Well, I have been doing that all along with the other Doxy cuz there was no info of that. Then I read that it will make th Doxy not work, so possibly for two months I have been taking Doxy and iron at the same time, so maybe it isn't working? Man how far have I set myself back? Plus my teeth are turning colors. Having this two hour hold is difficult because I am either ingesting one of those things or have food in there somewhere....so I need to reset my routine which will make it harder not to mess up.

I am really starting to get depressed and grouchy. I'm scared of being this sick....I just want to get through the woods on this. :(.

Well, be sure to eat before you take this med though - you need to protect your stomach - we only get one!!! Try finding something like 1/2 a peanut butter sandwich or something that is substantial enough to protect your stomach.

Your teeth *may or may not* return to their normal color. For most they do, but there are a few that have stained teeth from then on - just to let you know.

Please realize that you need to be very careful to not cause permanent damage while trying to treat these infections - you are the only one that has to live with it if you do. You can turn to Holistic treatments if you can't tolerate the abx. Many here are finding healing by using Holistic methods. So please just be careful!!
