Hello, I apologize if these questions sound far-fetched and completely off base. I might be in the wrong spot, but wanted to get some input. First off, I'm a 31 year old female and have been having a few strange symptoms the last 4 months. None of them seem "related" or like they could possibly go together, but since they all have started around the same time, it makes me wonder (and makes me sound crazy I'm sure). The first alarming thing that happened was a little over 4 months ago. One day out of nowhere, I had some nausea that came with belching. The nausea lasted a few days (no vomiting), and the frequent belching that came with it seemed to help the nausea a bit. After a few days when the nausea went away, the belching never went away and has been happening every single day since. It got extremely excessive (over 100 times a day regardless of eating or drinking). It was terrible (but no acid, heartburn, reflux, etc). It has subsided a bit, maybe half, but it's still unexplainable belching. I also cannot even drink or eat anything with belching, but it also happens on an empty stomach. I also have occasional mild nausea. I've seen a GI doctor who has run blood and done several imaging tests (endoscopy, ultrasound, barium swallow/Xrays...all to come back "normal).
about a month after the belching started, I one day developed muscle twitching. It has not stopped since (it has been going on for about 3 months now). It is pretty severe twitching. I am having it throughout my body pretty consistently all day, and is not getting any better. I eventually saw a Neurologist who said I had a normal exam, and also had a "normal" nerve conduction study and EMG.
Also starting around the same time is that I now wake up almost every night with my hands completely numb and asleep. Once I shake them out they "wake up", but it is odd as this never used to happen before and now happens consistently.
At first glance, none of these symptoms seem to go together. However, it's just odd that they all started around the same time. I have NO idea if this could be Lyme, or some other infection, or if it really is just a huge coincidence and nothing is wrong with me and they don't tie together at all.
My GI says I'm "fine", the neurologist says I'm "fine" and my internist says if they all say I'm fine, I shouldn't worry. But, I keep having these persistent symptoms that just don't make sense. Lyme may be a stretch, but I have read some things about GI issues, muscle twitching, etc. being tied to Lyme. I drive myself crazy trying to self-diagnose, but it's hard to just ignore and pretend the symptoms don't mean anything.
If anybody here has any input for me, it would be incredibly helpful. I would really appreciate anything! Thank you :)
