Gene mutations and Lyme

There have been several threads about various gene mutations and Lyme. How would I find out if I have it? My LLMD? Is there a lab that does this? What are these mutations?

Most of the gene mutations that are spoke about here are the ones that indicate a body's issues in being able to detox properly. I don't know where most people get tested for these things, but I do know that one company - "23 & me" - has these tests. You can look them up online.

I will try although I have heard that the FDA recently severely limited what information they are allowed to give to people.

Yep - just saw that myself. It's a shame that the FDA thinks we can't handle this information. shakehead

If your LLMD can't help you get this test, you can still get the raw data through 23 & me or another lab. I know that it's been talked about a lot here and if you use the search function, you can find the threads and find out what "thingies" indicate a problem with detoxing.

Just a thought.

I recently had the blood test that diagnosed the gene mutation. Look up information on MTHFR. I have double 677t. My bioidentical hormone doctor requested the test. I had mine done at Labcorp. Yes, the mutation depletes your ability to fight off certain diseases and predisposes you to others. Hope this helps. I saw on one of the websites that they are linking this mutation to why some people get disease when others don't.

So my LLMD should be able to prescribe that too. And Labcorp is approved by my insurance. Relief!
