JT3131 - Your results are borderline, but highly suspicious.

Band 41 just indicates you were exposed to any in a large range of bacteria that have flagella (or tails). This can come from Lyme yes, but this also can come from other diseases too (like the kind you pick up in overseas ...........). Nevermind, that was the start of a bad military joke. =)

Anyway, your band 31 result is very interesting This band can be specific to Lyme (if its an Igenex test). While there is not enough to warrant a positive, an "IND" means they counted SOME, just not enough to warrant a positive. This doesnt just show up in your blood by accident.

So taken together, I suspect you might have been exposed to Lyme, but this needs to be combined with your symptoms of course and if you recall being bitten by a tick with or without the classic bull's-eye rash?

Vcast - can I ask what tells you that Band 31 isn't Lyme specific? What I have says it is - although I also know that this can change from time to time as more research is done. I found "my" info here: www.reocities.com/HotSprings/Oasis/6455/western-blot.txt

If you haven't yet, please do read through the thread that sits at the top of the forum titled, "New to Lyme? Start here!" as it's packed full of important information, symptoms lists (as Lyme rarely is the only infection passed), detoxing information, and much, much more!

Why don't you tell us a bit about yourself? Do you have many of the symptoms of Lyme disease, Bartonella, or any of the other tick-borne infections? How long do you believe you may have been infected?

Was your test run through a "Lyme lab" or something like Quest or LabCorp?

Traveler....it looks to me that Vcast was saying band 31 is specific to lyme. He just went on to explain that IND doesnt show up by accident, something like lyme had to cause the reaction, it was just a weak reaction so I think Vcasts comments fit with our current understanding......I know sometimes when I read stuff my lyme brain interprets what I am reading the opposite of what is being communicated.....I think I am finally getting to the point I can chuckle when that happens (although still very frustrated) same wen letters seem to disappear and reappear ..... no wonder we all think we are going crazy sometimes.

Traveler,

My symptoms started with some slight memory problems, slow cognitive function, and blurry vision. Then came the most horrible headaches, nausea and fatigue. These headaches where located in the front and back of head and came along with neck pain. Many mornings I would wake up and almost puke. They are more mild now then they used to be but hurt none the less. My headaches now are usually behind my four head under my scalp on top of my head. They feel like a deep ache or pressure.

I also have mild groin, knee and shin pain that comes and goes. I have had pain under my arm pit and in my neck as well, I guess where you gland would be. I get some twitching and pulsing in my face, arms, and hands. I had ever scan to known man and they all turned out ok. The that a neuro has found is a raised csf protein in a LP.

Considering that band 31 is specific to Lyme disease and your symptoms would also indicate a Lyme infection - it's fairly safe to say that you need to have some treatment.

Your headaches would also make me consider that you have co-infections - likely Babesia- known for causing headaches specifically, or Bartonella - known for increasing CNS (Central Nervous System) symptoms. So do be sure to check into those two co-infections for sure and do your best to get your doc to investigate it as well.

Do you need some help finding a Doc to treat you? If so, would you like to use regular MD's who use abx (antibiotics) or would you like to go the 'natural' route?
