Hey everyone,
I was just diagnosed with a MTHFR mutation and am trying for the 2nd time now to start a supplement to correct this - the first time I stopped it because it seemed to be the cause of this mysterious gallstone-type pain that went away after I stopped taking it...this scared me a bit so it's taken me a couple months to work up the courage to restart it...
I'm vaguely aware of the fact that taking supplements for this can cause a herx-type reaction because it makes you start producing glutathione or something, right? In any case it's supposed to make you detox and I've felt extra run down and had extra respiratory symptoms...and now I have a fever which has been very rare for me...just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences?
My doctor isn't very hands-on in my treatment process so I have trouble asking her treatment adjustment-related questions...I'm thinking it might be better to only take the supplement every other day instead of every day? The plan was to take it daily, then eventually work up to twice daily. I think it's basically just the methylated forms of the B vitamins that the gene messes with...
Thanks in advance for any insight!
