I was diagnosed with Lyme in Oct. Most of my symptoms have been relieved and I have just a few issues I'm dealing with - thirst, along with sore feet and neck, but for the last month or so I've had terrible itching on the nipple of my right breast. There is no apparent rash or swelling. It's driving me CRAZY!!!! Is this Lyme related? Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much!

It could be a reaction to your laundry soap or body soap, but I'd think it would affect both. Maybe a slight fungal infection. How often do you wash your bras? That's all I can come up with, so hopefully more will chime in with other ideas.

I agree with Garden Peace that it might be yeast (fungal). Have you been on lots of antibiotics? If so, what is your doc having you take to combat yeast? I'm just recently battling the yeast, after 2 years of antibiotics and not good antifungal protocol (also am seeing a new LLMD....), and yeast is a biggie. You might talk to your LLMD about
it...

I got to deal with that one for a while! Not only embarrassing, but horrid! Mine wasn't related to yeast issues, but with continued treatments it disappeared and hasn't returned!

I agree it could be yeast on the skin and it could be allergies to detergents. Both Yeast problems and allergies are common with lyme.

Hi! Interesting to hear someone else with a nipple problem. Mine is the left, and it is not itching exactly, but sensations demanding pulling or rubbing, and I discovered that I could express greenish/brown fluid, which I have never seen before lyme. I freaked, had tests done (nothing), got a thermogram, and then got another one three months later, for a base line. Right before the second thermogram, I started having stabbing pains in that nipple, so it was very helpful to have the thermogram right then. Both thermos were totally clean. BTW, the stabbing pains went away, thank God! For me it is not detergents or yeast or allergies, and I am convinced it is the lyme but why in only one nipple? If it was any of those other things, it would be both nipples, more body parts, etc.
I do not have a lyme literate doc, so am dealing with this all on my own. This is only one of the things I have been experiencing.
Since the bacteria like to embed in soft tissue, why not breast tissue?

I had this!!! VERY annoying...
I had tests done, everything clear, no yeast, nothing. They discovered though that there was a minor discharge of milk - I was never pregnant, never had a child.
It comes and goes, but it has been a while now. I hope it stays away.
Like the others said, I would exclude yeast first, if you are on abx... and maybe change your laundry detergent and softener (if you use one). I only use eco friendly laundry detergent and softener for hypersensitive skin.

I haven't had the itching of the nipples, but I've had it from the lower region of the female anatomy. Never any infection. It stopped after a few years(wasn't constant thankfully).
Fast forward about
8 years, now on treatment, and that feeling has returned with a vengeance! Thought it was from the antibiotics, but nope....no infection, no answers, and nothing works to calm it Ahhh!
Then I spoke to my llmd, and he said if there's no infection, it's probably Lyme related...probably a herx since it came back when starting abx. He told me to try some benadryl, and it worked!!!
Sorry...I rambled on to get to the very simple point, benadryl might help... :)

Sooverthis, you might want to check into Bacterial Vaginosis. I know that I've had this come and go for years, but not a yeast infection in the "nether parts."

Yep, checked for everything multiple times. No infections of any sort. It comes back every time I switch or up my treatments, and has been a little less annoying each time, so I'm hoping at the end of this, I'll never have these symptoms again...at least for an unexplained reason lol.

It might be that it's a nerve issue rather than an infection or irritation. I finally decided that was what was going on with me most of the time.
At any rate, I too hope that you don't have to deal with any of this once you finish treatments!!!

Definitely sounds like a Candida/yeast problems to me. Ive got the male version of this. Its especially bad on ABX, so Ive got to ask if you are on ABX?
If you are, you absolutely need to get on or dramatically increase your probiotics. Not all probiotics are created equal and there are specific strains you want that can target this yeast.
Let us know.

Update on my condition - I developed a dry, itchy rash around the nipple area. My primary physician (who is also treating my lyme) thought it was fungal and put me on an anti-fungal (fluconazole) for a week. During this time I developed painful, swollen lymph nodes in my armpit and down my side. The medication didn't help, if anything the lymph nodes hurt worse. Went to my OB/GYN who did a skin biopsy and sent me for a mammogram. The mammogram came back fine and the biopsy came back as "hives". My OB/GYN thinks the hives result is strange, so she talked to a dermotolagist who said I should take Claritin and see if that helps, otherwise it's probably lyme related. In the mean-time, the lymph nodes have calmed down, but I still have the dry. itchy spots around the nipple. I don't really think the Claritin is going to do anything. I'm thinking right now that I'll wait about
a month and see if there's any change, and then see a dermotolagist.

The Lymph node swelling was most likely due to an overload of toxins being processed, as this is why they exist - an indication of fungal issues.
I would encourage you to read up on Candida and Bartonella (due to your feet being so sore).
