Hi there,
I was on Tinidazole 500mg twice a day in combination with doxycycline 200mg twice a day for numerous months - seemed to be a fantastic combination. However, I know some doctors prefer to have the tinidazole less often e.g. three or four days out of seven.
Tinidazole can cause nerve problems, so just make sure you keen an eye out for this and take a break or stop treatment if needed.
Hope this helps,
Kirsty
Hey,
Thanks for bumping Traveler.
Yeah, I found another guide in the meantime: http://www.borreliose-nachrichten.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Chronic_persistent_Lyme-Disease_or_chronic_Borreliosis.pdf .
Pretty great and it stated clearly that you should indeed take 500-1000 mg of it during combination therapy with either macrolides or tetracyclines.
Your Doxy dose seems kind of low though. But yeah, this combination you took worked best in an in vivo study of Sapi et al. in mice who were infected by the spirochete borrelia! I think because you combine two drugs, one of which works intracelluar, and the other targets probably all known forms of borrelia, this should be a good combination. They both cross the blood brain barrier or that's what I've heard (brain is an ideal hiding & growing place for bacteria).
My doctor and I now want to go for Tinidazole combined with Minocyclin. Mainly because my symptoms are a lot more neurological, and Mino enters the CSF better than Doxy. I read everywhere that the Mino dose should be built up until you reach 200mg daily. However my doctor claims that I should take only 100 mg daily because we do a combined therapy. Is this true?
You really can't find much about
combination therapy dosages, duration, etc. And I really want to kick this lyme in the butt now, without just pissing it off with some tiny dosages that don't work.
