I'm new to this forum, but I really need to know if anyone shares my issues.

Quick background: Dx Chronic Lyme in 2000, infected sometime in the 1980's. I also have hypothyroidism, asthma, interstitial cystitis, panic disorder, chronic fatigue, headaches, mitral valve prolapse, autonomic nervous system disorder, sleep apnea, fixed vestibular lesion, low blood pressure

I've had my highs and lows over the years, but for the most part now, I'm pretty good. Fatigue and headaches are my most chronic issues.

But here comes my scary thing. Since 1995 (the year my daughter was born), I have had once a year ambulance trips to the emergency room for sudden onset abdominal cramping followed by vomiting and/or diarrhea resulting in my fainting from dropped blood pressure and dehydration.

There's never really been an explanation for it, but what concerns me most is that it has happened FOUR times in the past year. It comes out of nowhere, and there is no common denominator except for the fact that it has happened in the evening and when I'm not alone. It's making me afraid to go anywhere or do anything, and it is stressful for my husband and two teenagers who probably panic every time in go into the bathroom at night. :(

I've had a full cardiology work-up with no issues and am awaiting a neurological consult. I had a colonoscopy last year which was normal. Oh, and I'm not currently on any mess for the Lyme.

Help!! If anyone has any insight or suggestions, I'd appreciate it so much!!

Are you on replacement hormones by any chance? I was for a while, you know - the compounded natural ones - and I had 7 abdominal attacks, all kinds of tests, spent two nights and two days in the hospital but had to finally figure it out myself. It was abdominal migraines. Adults supposedly very rarely get them. You might want to google them and see if it fits. When I stopped the hormones, I had one more, but that was it. They were terrible. This was before I got lyme, btw. And after I figured it out, the PA at our PCP office said she gets them, too, and is also on the hormone replacement drops. ARGH!

But you need to google it and don't be put off by all the info about little children only. ha!

Interesting, I never heard of those before! I did google it and I'll mention it to my PCP, but my episodes seem more violent and intense, but you never know! I've never taken hormone replacements. I'm 56 and menopausal but have never had issues, thankfully - not even a hot flash. I guess that makes up for all the other crap I've gone thorough, lol.

Have you ever had bartonella testing done? I think that's the co-infection that messes with my GI tract. A few weeks ago I had unbelievable abdominal pain/pressure...thought my intestines were twisted. I was going to have my husband call 911 because I didn't think I could ride in the car, but I soaked in a warm bath, and the pain subsided, and hasn't returned....yet.

Are you looking into getting treatment?

Thanks, Sooverthis. I don't think I've been tested for bartonella. Is that another tick-borne infection?
I take belladonna when the pain starts. It helps the pain but doesn't stop the attack that inevitably brings the ambulance.

Bartonella is a co-infection from tics, but you can also catch it from a cat scratch/bite(Cat Scratch Fever), fleas, ... .

Have you had any treatment for Lyme at all?

In a lot of cases where Lyme doesn't get better on long term abx, it's because of co-infections. There are many, and they require different combos(taken at the same time)of abx. If you have Babesia, or Bartonella, and they go unaddressed, Lyme treatment would more than likely be unsuccessful.

Yes but I had gallbladder issues and pancreatitis and biliary strictures and it was frequent. I would have cyclic vomiting. I hope you get it sorted!

Thanks! Maine, do the docs think you transmitted Lyme in utero? I wonder about with my kids...
