Hi MyLyme,
what you discribe is 'normal' with these infections. Herxing often intensifies symptoms.
to answer your questions:
1. I have the same thing going on when herxing or having a flare, Lyme or Bart. These neurological experiences are very common with LD and Bart.
2. Many (or even most) of us have one side of the body that is worse. For me, it is my left side.
3. yes, like your muscles falter. My (former) ostheopath said that muscles need to re-learn how to function. He taught me some exercices. Very easy ones, that re-teach the muscles how to move fluently. It was really funny, in the beginning I would get stuck 4 times while bending forward, or back again.
Lyme is neurologically overwhelming. Totally unanounced, while walking, I physically freeze, don't know where I am, who I am, what I'm doing. Then it passes. Then there are the nerve pains, the neuropathy, crawling things under my skin. Numb feeling in 1 side of the body, slurred speach, not being able to form sentences or find words, bad to no concentration, very bad short and long term memory, etc. etc...
You can find a list of symptoms at the top of the top of the Lyme page 'New to Lyme? ... Start here!' you will find symptom lists there. And lots of other useful information about detoxing, different treatments, links, and much more. A must read.
Some neurological experiences can be pretty scary at first... I would surely mention all of them to your doctor.
I find it strange though that your dr is trying to send you away to a neurologist, he should know that neurological symptoms are part of all this.
Try to implement as much detoxing into your daily routine as possible, it is really important - tips on that can be found in the top thread.
Good luck,
Marie
