Technician said Quest & Igenex are the same!

Is there a big difference between Quest lab & Igenex lab? The lab work slip
today looked to me like the main Lyme test was ordered to be done at Quest. And the co-inf. at Igenex. But I asked the technician and she said it was the same!

I think they are 2 different labs and I hate to be a pain but I would like to double check if what I saw were those different ones and not what I requested. I would like to call but who would I speak with?

Not only are they not the same, but their testing methods, equipment, and procedure is very different. Igenix has been and still is considered the Gold standard for testing Lyme.

Please make sure that any tests that you request to be sent to Igenix are actually sent there.

When I get my lab work, even from LabCorp, it has the name of the lab, the city and other information. If your tests don't have this information, request it to make sure they are doing what you want them to do.

Well, that just shows the ignorance of that lab tech is all.

As Healing has said, request that all tests go through either Igenex or Stony Brook lab as these are the only ones that are set up to specifically test for these infections with the better testing methods, equipment and training for their techs.

Call your doc's office to change where your tests are being sent. They may refuse, but it's not because they can't send it out to Igenex - it's because they may refuse to use that lab.

Not the same.

I'm negative on Quest Lyme testing. Positive on Igenex.
