There is a guy if you google Lyme Warrior he goes to Mexico for stem cell treatments. I don't think he is on this forum.

Why would you want to go to a country with a lower quality of medical care and lower safety standards? I have a sister-in-law that was born down there and had one child down there - they botched her up really, really bad and it was no big deal - there was nothing she could do or say about it.

I have heard of stem cell treatments being done outside the US due to the fact that the treatments are not approved here in US yet. There is a cardiac stem cell therapy treatment center in the Bahamas.

Hi Kim,

I would highly recommend pursuing other avenues including a naturopathic doctor, and an herbalist, or LLMD before pursuing out of the country treatment. At first, I was very ill and I was dead set on dropping 20k to feel better immediately. As it turned out, that is not what I needed. I did my research and found a few good drs and it was a lot more affordable, I got better relatively fast and did not need to take off work to go to a clinic.

We have a lot of good recommendations on here for treatment and doctors. Can some of our members help you out in that area?

Hi All!

Thanks so much for the replies ! I was dx back in 2002 CDC positive for lyme, neurologic. I did 2 x 6 months IV rocephin and hyperbaric chamber. Also did naturopathic cleansing. It worked for 12 years and now back with a vengeance. I'm not able to work and incapacitated. I went to a Lyme Doctor, told me know one will treat chronic lyme anymore due to a bunch of doctors losing their licenses back East. I just don't know where to go. The doctor told me to go to Mexico, that it was the only place I coud get fixed. I'm in California. I need help with docs or treatement plan

hi kimmie do you have any research or information on the stem cell therapy being done with Lyme ? Id like to read it if you do.

I looked into it with my late husband as he had a genetic immune deficiency. Other than that it was very expensive we would have had to travel either to Mexico or China. It also carried enormous risks for him to we never ended up doing it.

I will be going to Sponaugle Wellness. My first day is April 7th. I will be posting about my experience here and I will be also starting a blog. I just found out that I was MTHFR heterozygous for both T667C and A1278C. I also have mutations on DRB1, DRB4, and both alleles DQB1. What that all means I am not sure other than that I have a genetic problem on top of Ehrlichiosis and Chlamydia Pneumoniae. There are also a bunch of other markers that came up either too high or too low. I obviously have a problem bigger than any of the local LLMDs can tackle so I am going to Sponaugle. It will cost me an arm and a leg and I will probably have to do a fundraiser but Sponaugle specializes in genetic issues and tick borne diseases so right now I consider this my only option.

Kimmie there can be many things wrong with you that will not necessarily be solved in Mexico. I just found out that 10-15% of population is MTHFR homozygous and 20-25% is MTHFR heterozygous. What this means is that one's ability to remove toxins and heavy metals from their body is 30-100% compromised depending on the mutation. It also means that you do not process vitamins B6, B9, and B12 correctly (and other issues). When the level of toxins and heavy metals in the body is too high it causes a maelstrom of problems one of which is inability to fight off tick borne diseases (and allergies, thyroid problems, acne, etc, to name a few). There are a number of other things that can be wrong with you that most LLMDs don't know to check for.

Have you been tested for heavy metals? It may be a good place to start. If you do come up with heavy metal toxicity chances are high you have MTHFR mutation and that needs to be dealt with first. From what I understand the treatment is vitamin B shots and methylated B supplements etc. I will know more when I am at Sponaugle.

I haven't done any research but I know people use wordpress so I guess that is what I am going to go with. It is free and supposedly easy.

I'm so sorry that you saw someone that told you such a thing!! There are docs all over the country still treating people and a lot of people finding healing on their own with natural/herbal protocols!

Kimmie, I'm sorry to hear you had a Dr. who said that to you. Hopefully you'll find new one soon. I'm glad you mentioned it on here before you took his advice. I wish you the best! Keep us posted and keep fighting.

Kimmie, I've got one in Sacramento. He is a fibro/chronic fatigue doc that treats for Lyme. Dr. P.

Also, there is a Lyme group in auburn or grass valley that can connect you to docs up that way.

In defense, part of it has to do with affordability. If the plane fare wasn't so high, I would fly to another country in a flash to go to the dentist.

The docs that write a book are hard to get around mentioning when you mention the book, but I do my best. The instructions to not name doctors did not come from me, I'm only the rule keeper - to the best of my ability.
