Most LLMDs charge that much. They charge that much because (a), they are not insurance providers, and (b), they don't see 20 people a day for 10 minutes each, like most doctors.
Doctors don't really have a choice; they are pressured to see many patients a day, or they don't make up the overhead and insurance costs. Otherwise, they wouldn't make a profit.
LLMDs might see three, or at the most four, patients a day, and they charge that much so they can make a profit.
During my first visit, Dr. L. saw me for three hours.
Many, though not all, are in it to help people. In my opinion, the clinics or centers are more in it for the money, and the individual doctors are more in it to help people. There are doctors who will just dx practically anyone with Lyme so they can make a lot of money. I think that it's good to go by the reputation, involvement with ILADs, publications, etc.
