I just got back from my orthopedic surgeon. He looked at my MRI and said that there were cysts in my ankle and that is why it hurts. He said the cysts were caused by Ehrlichia bc it causes swelling in joints which in turn causes cysts. First of all, I am next to SPEECHLESS that he actually said that. Second he said he would not give me cortisone shots bc they are contraindicated in TBI. God must have been working on this guy's mind or something! I am so thankful that i know why my ankle hurts and that it is in fact caused by my TBIs!

That is great news lymebabe!

I was also surprised when my cardiologist explained to me that he sees lyme patients all the time and it causes x, y, and z. He was really non-judgemental about my treatment and it was just so refreshing to have a normal doctor that understands lyme!

I hope this trend continues!

I'm also glad that it is nothing more serious that is causing your ankle to hurt! Do you know if it will go away with treatment?

I think it will. It started at the same time as my other symptoms so I am assuming that it should get better as my treatment progresses. I am glad I don't have to have surgery!

Wow a surgeon that understands Lyme. I am impressed. Stick with this guy. I have at least 3 joints that blow up randomly and make it painful to move. Let me know if you find something that helps.

That's awesome, not that you have cysts obviously but that you had validation! My cardiologist won't acknowledge that my SA node dysfunction that he thinks I have is related to lyme. I have cysts in my wrists and have a really bad ankle I went to see a PT for, I couldn't even stand to have my hiking boots on because it was so painful to have anything touch my ankle. They didn't know what it was....

We should include the names of these doctors along with the list of LLMDs that is already kept. This information would be of great value for someone who is looking for an orthopedic surgeon or a cardiologist that understands Lyme. I believe that if these doctors have taken the time to educate themselves about Lyme, that the least we can do is give them our business.

By the way, has the LLMD list been shared with the new Moderators so they can carry on the tradition of providing this valuable information?

This is good news that there are doctors who are more understanding about Lyme. Does anyone know where to find a lyme doctor in the North Texas area? Is there a list I can see? Thank you so much.

I wonder if I have cysts too? I guess I need to get an MRI.

Lately on the tinidazole I feel like a pressure is building up in my knees. If feels like I need to do something to let out the pressure, not sure what though.

Lymebabe, It is nice to have a doctor acknowledge Lyme !!!! Maybe the doors are starting to open !
