Sorry, this is my second post today, I'm being a chatterbox! This will be my last today, promise.
Anyway, one of my VERY FIRST symptoms of this illness was an intense full-body chill that kept coming and going, and a feeling of extreme warmth, but with no actual fever present.
The chill is gone, but the "feeling warm with no fever" continues. It is especially present in the morning. My face and neck especially feel SO warm. I'll touch my hand to my forehead and I could swear I'm burning up. But I'm not. In fact, when I take my temp, it's actually sometimes lower than normal.
What is this? Does anyone else have this? Is there an explanation for it? It's very uncomfortable.

I have experienced the warmth and feverish feeling for the past 5 yrs. My face and neck also flush terribly. I have taken my temperature and it didn't register a fever. However, I have read that people who typically have low body temperature (me - possibly due to thyroid/adrenal problems) probably are running a fever, but it doesn't register as high as a person who has normal body temperature.
As for the cause, hopefully someone else will come along and explain!

My daughter has that happen. She has a low body temp., so if it shows 98 degrees, she has a fever. Most of the time it's low when she feels hot.
You can post as many times as you want!

I have this all the time. I keep taking my temp, but it is always at my usual low temp. I heat up suddenly then eventually cool down for no apparent reason. Sometimes I get chills with it. I get hot spots too. Mostly on my right knee.

You have described exactly my experience. Had it as recent as two day ago, my face was hot to the touch, had chills but temp 96.8. I can't tell if it is due to lyme but definitely weird

This happened to me as well. I think what happens is this...
There is a massive cytokine cascade that happens particularly with Lyme and Bartonella. But also happens with some of the co-infections. The cytokines are good to seek infection and direct our white blood cells to fight the intrusive bacteria, but too much and too many is bad thing and it just causes chaos confusion and a whole bunch of havok in the body. One thing is that it blinds our immune system. It turns out that this cytokine storm also gets into our brain and causes problems with our hypothalamus and pituitary which is the brain center for hormone regulation in the entire body. This system malfunctions and you get problems with your thyroid and adrenal glands causing low energy, low body temperature, etc.
This is very common occurance with the Lyme infection and the cytokine cascade. You can do things to get this cytokine cascade under control and you will literally feel at least 50% better! Or so I think. I think you can take things like concentrated curcumin or japanese knotweed and this will resolve this cytokine cascade.

Yes, this happens to me all the time. At first I used to take my temperature, but then I realized temperature had nothing to do with it. In fact, when I do have a fever, I don't even feel that hot.
In me, I think part of it is menopause, but Babesia and Bartonella cause those symptoms as well.

Yes, today in fact.
Feel feverish right now (was up all night with a stomach virus- throwing up every hour until 10am with diarrhea - then aches - and chills - and then hot cheeks and really hot all through out my body.
I used to always be able to run a fever before lyme. With lyme it just becomes a normal temp - like 98.6 although one time 1 1/2 years ago it went above 99 when I had a week long flu.
Anyways, yes, yes and yes.
My whole life my regular temp was 98.6 and fevers were always above that number. Not anymore... I wonder what causes this....

I also think chronic lyme eventually messes with endocrine system and hormones. Belive I have been sick ten years. The variety and frequency of symptoms is just wacky. I just started having subclinical hypothyroid issues as of lastvyear. Now another med added to the pile. This is just a slow tortuous dysfunction in various systems.

Oh my gosh, that has happened to me so often! Like every few weeks or something, ever since I first got the flu-like illness (with a temperature that WAS confirmed by the people who were with me when I got sick).
I'll complain of a fever, someone will put their hand on my forehead, and say, "nup, you don't have fever. Nothing wrong" (so frustrating, when I KNOW there's something wrong!).

This is exactly what happens to me! My neck and face feel hot to me, and my body feels warm and achy but I don't run a typical fever and don't seem to feel warm to anyone else! I usually end up getting swollen glands in my neck and armpits with this too.
