Lab Results... Please help interpret

Grr! My lab test results aren't completely negative, so I can't just dismiss them. But they aren't that positive either, so it's hard to know if I even have Lyme and Yersinia or not. The results for the Chlamydia co-infections were completely negative so I won't post them here. I was tested for Bartonella by an Australian lab, and the result simply said "negative". Keep in my mind that I have a weak immune system and a lot of neurological symptoms. I'm only asking you guys because it will be 2 months till I see the LLMD again. Not that I'll just take your word as the truth without evidence behind your opinions.

Please help me interpret these results from Infectolab, Germany:

The specific Borrelia burgdorferi-IgG/IgM-antibodies are no indication for a
humoral immune-response against Borrelia burgdorferi. Please look at the results of the Borrelia-Elispot-LTT and the CD57+cell-count. Please take into consideration the clinical symptoms and the differential diagnosis (co-infections).
The results of the Elispot-Lymphocyte-Transformation-Tests are no indication for an actual cellular activity against Borrelia burgdorferi.
Yersinia Elispot LTT
Yersinia-Elispot LTT (+) 2 SI
The result of the Elispot-Lymphocyte-Transformation-Test (LTT) is an a borderline/very weak actual cellular activity against Yersinia.

Cd57 indicator of how well your immune system is. A low cd57 is suppose to only happen if you have lyme ((the value)of this test ishas no consensus) but just another possible indicator in a medical world that finds it difficult to create a test that definitively identifies lyme, co infections.

No other tests done that could correlate to Lyme, as far as I know.

So maybe it is fibromyalgia after all.

MrsPallas:) thank you so much for your kind words. They mean a lot, really - I was starting to revert to the idea that I am psychosomatic and crazy...

I am seeing a Lyme Literate doctor. Before I went to see him, I had a hair analysis done (it was a requirement to have this done by the initial appt) which showed some very high levels of heavy metals such as mercury and aluminium and a few other metals, and copper overload and a few mineral deficiencies. Based on that, the doctor ordered a supplement to help detox me and one specifically to make up for the deficiencies and imbalances.

We went through many of my symptoms then the doctor said he wanted to test me for Lyme. To be honest, until this stage I hadn't even known that I was seeing a Lyme Literate doctor. I was there simply because someone personally recommended him to me - they said that he had helped improve their fibromyalgia and chrniic fatigue syndrome within 6 months - from bedridden to working full time. So I made an appointment to see him and had to wait 9 months before the appointment cos he is in high demand in my state.

I had never really heard much about Lyme before except that it was a "differential diagnosis" for fibromyalgia that was not applicable in Australia because "it doesn't exist here". This doctor actually specialises in chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia, so even if it isn't Lyme causing my symptoms, he will get to the bottom of it because he has studied extensively in ALL the differential diagnoses for CFS and FMS. Which is a comforting thought :)

I have only seen him for the one 2-hour initial appointment so far. I remember him saying that if I showed positive for one band on the Infectolab test, then he would order another test for Sydney Biologics as well. But if I got 2 bands positive on the Infectolab test, he would treat me for Lyme. Bands? I don't see any bands in my test results. Can you explain that to me?

Ok :) Well, he is the only LLMD in WA. I think there's like 1-2 LLMDs in every state in Australia, despite how big each state is.

No bands on the Infectolab results... Hmm... Thanks for that info!

Well it was going to be 2 months till I see him, but luckily there was a cancellation so I only have to wait 2 and a half weeks now :)

I haven't forgotten your negative test and I have news for you!

Yesterday, I spent all afternoon at the Belgian Senate to attend a round table about Lyme Disease. I got an answer on whether a negative Borrelia Burghdorferi Elispot LTT per se means that you are negative for LD.

The answer is no!!

There are 2 things that can cause a false negative: the main reason is that there were simply not enough lymphocytes present in the blood they tested. The other reason is that you might have a not so common strain of Borrelia. In fact, the test is called Borrelia Burghdorferi Elispot LTT, but they could let drop the Burghdorferi, cause they are measuring interferon gamma. My dr said though that a false negative can be caused by a not so common strain of Borrelia. What follows is my own remark: you live in Australia, so...

I hope this gives you some hope on not being crazy   (just joking about what you posted earlier, I don't want you to think I'm making fun of you).

D-Day is coming close, isn't it, your first llmd visit???

Quite right, we possibly have a native strain here in Australia.

I saw the LLMD doctor today - my CD57 is 30, which he says makes him almost certain that I have Lyme disease. I'm going to get a PCR test for Borrelia done.

Closer to an answer...
