Hi! Husband showed me a rash yesterday from a tick bite. Looks to be an EM. Headed to he doctor today and I am going to suggest some of the info I have found on your forum and on the ilads site. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Welcome to the forum! Are you going to a Lyme literate doctor? If not, you should so he doesn't get the runaround that so many new Lyme patients get. You can start a new post saying "Looking for LLMD in _____" The sooner he gets diagnosed and started on treatments, the better. Take a picture of the rash too. Keep us posted.

I agree with GPeace, if you look at the end of my post you might see why...

I was given 10 days with the tick bite/EM rash - it was not enough. That doesn't mean your hubby
will be on antibiotics/medication for long but IMO it is worth it to go to LLMD Now, rather then later.

It would have saved me about $12,000 if I had done that and saved a whole lotta grief.

Money is an issue. This doc is super receptive to whatever course of action we want to take. I've copied down treatment information from ilads... Not sure what else to do. We are in Tulsa ok. Are there any LLMDS here?. All I found were Infectious disease docs who treat Lyme's patients and we still need a referral from our GP. No insurance and are barely covering our basics.

I know it is case by case but do you think in general the 8 weeks of the docyx.. Abx 400-600 mgs daily is a good place to start? I copied the exact details down for our physician.

Have you read the "New to Lyme? Start Here" thread at the top of the page? It has a lot of useful info. in it, including some things he could do on his own to aid his battle.

If the doctor is very receptive - I say go for it. Good for you for printing out ILADS guidelines.

I feel, personally - that had I been given 4-6 weeks of doxycyline at 400 mgs/day when I had the EM rash- that I wouldn't have gotten sick from lyme. Others might disagree with me here on that.

We had someone in a similar situation to this a few months ago and they were really worried/unsure what path to choose. They ended up doing doxy for two weeks I believe and then doing Samento and Banderol (<- herbal tinctures) for another few weeks.

I haven't seen them on here in months so I'm assuming they are OK.

I have read some of it.. Will read more. A lot going on today.
Went to the doc. He wanted to prescribe 100mg per day for 21 days. He said it coukd also be STARI, and i agree that thst is a possibility. He is very easy to work with and gave us a script for 400 mg per day for a month Doxcycycline. With a refill for another month if needed. He had not heard of a LLMD in our town. I will look on the ILADS site for one in Ok.
We are working with an extremely limited budget.
Any advice on mitigating the antibiotic course to protect my husbands GI tract?
