I've tried to look this up on the net. I haven't found answers though.

I suspect Lyme in both my daughter and I. We are both losing hair overall but also in a male pattern on the sides. Very peculiar.

I saw a thread for general hair loss and thought I'd start this one. Thanks for any responses!

Same with me. I had a thick head of hair and right after my first bite in 2006 my hair started falling out. Took less than 6 months until I gave in and buzzed it all off. No one in my family or extended families has had hair loss. Doc thinks it's from my system being thrown out of wack.

about 10 yrs ago I first noticed losing all the hair on my arms, then legs. Loss in pubic area and on my head and eyebrows was a little less but I have long hair and the shower drain was always filled with my hair, noticed the long hair in the sink, on my clothes. It was initially attributed to thyroid problems (which always tested normal until I saw a naturopath) but even on thyroid meds my arm/leg hair never grew back and the head on my hair kept falling out. Since I started antibacterial/antiviral/antifungal treatment it has stopped falling out.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I should have asked this too but I'm curious if your hairlines have been receding.

Our (Daughter and I) hairline has been receding. So, I just curious if your hairlines have been receding too. It's devastating since I used to say I looked like a lion. Makes me sad for us both.

I'm wondering if this is autoimmune but she's little and what is the likelihood. Kinda confusing...

Yes. Drives me insane. I don't know what it is from since it can be from a million things but I am broke, sick, and on top of that going bald… are you kidding me!

I completely feel your pain! I used to have thick beautiful hair. It started to "thin" as I got older. I'm 33. I thought "ok, age?" But the last 3 weeks my hair is falling constantly. And it is receding in the front. I've also looked up everything possible on hair loss to no avail. It's maddening!
I was bit in 2008. I still have confirmed lyme. But my Dr keeps telling me that's not the issue!
I talked to Dr. Schaller briefly over the phone. He mentioned babieosa or bartenella (can't remember exactly which one) could cause the hair loss?! Something about inflammation... I hope to figure this out quickly (soon i will be bald) and any info i find i will post asap!

Thanks everyone for the responses! I so appreciate all the replies. It clears things up for me.

lilbitlis, I'm going out to buy biotin and sea kelp (great source of iodine). I read these might help.

Hi Leilex.
I thought I would check in to see if you've seen any improvement with the biotin and sea kelp?
I've talked with my herbalist and she gave me rosemary oil. I put 3 droppers into my shampoo and have been washing with that every other day. I haven't noticed a difference in growth, however, I have noticed on the days I shampoo my hair doesn't fall nearly as much!
She also mentioned I could use a small amount in the conditioner or as a leave in over night as long as I rinse well. I have not tried those as of yet.

Hey, thanks for the response! I think it has slowed down and I did notice some new growth around my hairline. I'm going to keep on it and see if it's just in my head. HA. I will check out the rosemary oil though. Thanks for the tip! Cheers to getting our hair to grow!!!

Top of my head has had thinning hair for about a year now. I took a photo of it once with my cell phone. I was shocked because I could see my scalp. My hair used to be so thick that seeing my scalp through was never possible. :(

lyme messes with your gut & thyroid. both of which can cause problems with hair loss. heal the gut & heal the thyroid. easier said than done :(

Im thinking of buzzing my hair off and donating it. Right now it's almost down to my butt, its just thin from so much falling out. I love long hair so Im scared to chop it all off but I can't keep washing it with chemicals and it always has knots and its a huge ordeal for me to get help to shower. I could donate it to cancer wigs. Im scared it will be the last time I have long flowing hair. But I can't style it or go anywhere anyway so it's always wrapped in a bun. I want to do it because what better time to buzz it off. But I wish I could keep it till I get well. I think the change might help me cope with being in bed.
