LLMD in Chicago or South Wisconsin Area

Can anyone refer me to any LLMD in these areas treating patients w/o Lyme positive tests but EVERY SINGLE SYMPTOM and history of tick bites from an endemic area just before onset of symptoms???? Or even just any LLMD would be helpful.

My Dr is trying to be helpful but has seen 1 case in 10 years here in Chicago. After heavy reading, I realized I am showing all typical signs of infection but not a conclusive ELISA or Western Blot positive test which they want. I even have enough symptoms for Dr to put me on doxycyclene 200 mg presumptively but they do not want to send me to a LLMD.

They want me to go to Mayo Clinic. Ugh.

Jackie, sounds like you already know not to go to Mayo. A friend of mine went because her family forced her to--and of course they said it was not LD. Fortunately she then found an LLMD and got treatment. Good luck!

I have been hesitant on Mayo because of so many patients saying they will not treat just on symptomatic presentation, they require conclusive tests which I do not have.

The best I have is a complete blood count that says I am fighting a "unknown infection" and ALL the classic lyme symptoms. Just wonderful.

There are several doctors who treat Lyme in Chicagoland. You no longer have to go out of state. The Lymenet forum will also privately message you with doctors upon request.

Forget Mayo Clinic, Univ. of Chicago Hospitals, Rush-Presbyterian- been there, done that. It took me 7 1/2 years to get diagnosed (I diagnosed myself) and found treatment. It was a roller coaster ride.

I'm doing fairly well, but I could have been a lot better if I were treated sooner.

Vets give dogs doxycyline when they have Lyme, but try to find a regular doctor in Chicagoland who will prescribe it. They are a rare breed. You need to go to an LLMD. The best doc I've been to lost his license last year.

I'm in IL and seeing an open minded lyme dr in wakesha Wi in a few weeks. I can give you their info and you can call and speak to the nurse. I bet he would treat! he trays the whole body and is not a cookie cutter dr.

you will waste your time and money at the mayo, as you probably already know.

I think you need a new primary dr as well.

have you done igenex testing??
The dr i'm speaking got says he will put patents on antis to irrigate or activate the lyme and then test. He will probably do this for my 20 month old that has many weird symptoms. Or maybe not so weird at all when it comes to lyme

I have not done IGenex testing. Thinking about doing that as well. It sounds like Mayo is a last resort

I also read this lab is getting many positive reviews for tests because they culture the bacterial not test for antibodies. http://www.advanced-lab.com/faq.php ( might be on another thread, I could not find it )

I have no doubt at all that I have lyme, but w.o. a positive antibody test I may as well be in the leper colony when it comes to Drs touching it. The best I show is low white blood cell count, slight high co2 count in blood, and trace protein in urine. Did some research and it all it typical of autoimmune disease ( pathogen or non-pathogen caused ). Very vague indeed.

As a follow up to this message I wanted to mention that I found an excellent doctor in Park Ridge, IL with help from stacestar.

As I suspect I have lyme and some other "friends". Barts, babesia, and perhaps erchlia. This Dr was surprised I went so many places w.o. any doctor at least mentioning a LLMD. I am not. What a waste of insurance money! On meds now. A long road.....hopefully some positive results...
