I found a book that I had read long ago as part of management training that it's supposed to make you think positive on anything that you are dealing with. I challenged myself to come up with ten things that "are good" about
Lyme. here is my list:
1. Poop connoisseur – Before Lyme, I dumped and ran. Now, I study it for any changes to the texture, aroma, girth, and color.
2. Bad friend weeder – I had so many needy friends. Now that I am broke and with Lyme, those so called friends are nowhere to be found.
3. Better diet –before Lyme, I was like a waste disposal unit- I ate anything! Now, I spend my time in the gluten-free section, organic section, water aisle, and in the produce section.
4. Retirement decision maker – Before Lyme, I spent hours deciding at what age I would retire, how much money to set aside each year. Now that Lyme has eaten up our retirement funds, we are working until we drop dead so retirement is no longer an option.
5. Career builder – I was so into my career, I planned my moves strategically to help me advance in my career. Now that I can't think or concentrate, I am just glad that I have a job.
6. Skin cancer reducer – I used to live for summer and being outdoors. Skin cancer was a big concern with all the time I spent at the beach and outdoors. Now, I cover completely due to Doxy & sun poisoning, I spend all my free time indoors because I can’t do crowds and am light sensitive so skin cancer is not even an issue any more.
7. Doctorate degree – before Lyme, if I had heard the words Andrographis, Echinacea, or Turmeric I would probably have thought that they were countries in the Middle East or Russia. Now, I not only take them but I also play doctor with family and friends. Heck, I even recommended some herbs to my PCP!.
8. Clothing re-stylist – Lyme made me lose almost 50 lbs. I can no longer wear those jeans from the 80’s or that sweatshirt from back in college. New clothes for me!
9. Cleanest person on the block – So many detoxing baths! I bet I am the cleanest person in the block!
10. Coupon King – I used to hate getting stuck behind someone with coupons. Geez! Did they spend all day cutting out coupons? Lady, enough coupons already! I am in a hurry!! Now? I am that crazy old person with a ton of coupons
Hate to admit it but I even trade them!
So as you can see, Lyme changes us in more ways than just our health. I am sure you have your stories to tell too.
