Yes, Tinidazole, more than any medicine, gave me fatigue...BIG TIME. I took many months for me to get to a point where I wasn't tired on it. The first 2 weeks I took it I was sleeping every day - nearly the whole day away. The next few weeks it diminished to a nap every day and then to a nap every other day until just a feeling of tiredness in the afternoon without a nap. One thing I noticed was that my digestion became alot better taking Tinidazole and my doctor thought it may have been because it treats intestinal parasites and so was hitting that for me - I don't want to go into all the detail of it - but I really did notice a difference - in the toilet bowl! So that could have been a reason why I responded with tiredness to the Tinidazole as well. Or the fact that I had Babesia and not yet treated it.
Anyways - I recently switched out Doxy for Biaxin and I am able to stay awake all day with the Biaxin and Tinidazole paired together. I found out that Biaxin is used to treat hypersomnia (excessive daytime sleepiness) by doing a google search because I noticed when I took it I felt very alert all day. So that is a great side effect - the feeling alert! I actually feel like myself.
I know Tinidazole can be rough - for me it was the sleepiness - but it is one medication I intend to stay on the duration of my treatment because of it's outstanding results per Eva Sapi's study in comparison to all the other meds for treating Lyme.
