Endocrine issues with Lyme disease

I think I would just get my hormones checked because lyme messes up your hormones. Then go from there.
I had mine checked thru blood work I should of done it with the saliva. (I heard saliva is more reliable) the doctor told me I didn't have any progesterone and very little estrogen. I've been doing just progesterone. Thinking about going to this pharmacist she does hormone replacement with the salvia.

Your endocrine system controls your immune system. It is best if you treat both the Lyme and the endocrine so this way you have the best chance to overcome the infection. Many of the symptoms of Lyme are due to an impacted endocrine system. If you don't treat it now, you may not feel as if the treatment is working, and as it worsens, other organs such as your GI tract, heart, and nervous system will be impacted if they haven't yet.

My thyroid has been checked - and it's good -TSH, T3, T4 are all good. I originally had it tested because I thought with the "buzzing" in my body that I was hyperthyroid. I'm wondering if I need to test for thyroid antibodies, too?
My TSH was on the low side of normal - but since T3 and T4 are good, my doc says it's fine.
Other than Adrenal support supplements, medetation, light exercise, and eating well..is there any other way I can treat my adrenal glands? I know getting sleep is good, but i went from a 9hr night sleeper to getting 5 hours - and it's divided up with waking nightmares.
The supplement I have has Ashwaganda, Rhodiola and Cordyceps. I also take Vit. C - 1000mg, Bcomplex, B12, Vit.D, CoQ10 and a couple others that I can't remember now (brain fog) - but I used to take a lot more, but have cut back to the essentials because i read that too many supplements isn't good either - taxes your liver...

The odd thing about all of this is I my immune function still seems strong - shouldn't it be compromised. I have only had one cold in the past year - and I recovered in 3 days... and my wounds all heal good....is that an indicator that maybe it is not Lyme disease?

i believe it was the Free T3 - but not the reverse T3 and definitely no antibodies were tested. I will definitely ask for the antibodies test...because like I said I seem to have some hyperthyroid symptoms - I am so frustrated that the Doctor doesn't put all my symptoms together and try to figure out what's wrong. I finally asked for the Lyme test a few weeks ago after many months of bizarre symptoms. I have seen two endocrinologists, a neurologist, and will be seeing a Physiatrist in a week. They're just passing me around.

Would a ND be okay at first that has been to a workshop and is very open and willing to treat? She will be doing my test for Igenex if the other comes back negative. And she is only 30 minutes away from our home.

To go to a recognized LLND (we don't have LLMD's that I know of here in my area of BC Canada) - it would mean a week-end trip (drive and ferry involved) and overnight in hotel which at this point is difficult - as my husband has already taken so much time off with all my medical appointments. (not to mention the expense is difficult - since I've been unable to work)

So, I was hoping if I could at least get started with a ND close to home, and then when possible travel for the LLND.

Interesting.. this thread is making me really think I should be tested for lyme. I have hashimotos diagnosed, but no treatment and my symptoms are increasing.

Monday I see my Doc for the lab results - but they're most likely to be negative - if so, I will go to the ND close to home and get the Igenex testing done. If it's going from BC Canada to the US - will it get there in time - does it spoil? I guess my ND would know this if she's offering the test. I'm just a worry-wart.

I have LD/co now for at least 14 yrs, and just dx 9/13. I've not taken any meds, but have been self-treating with herbals and also had been seeing a llnd the past four months, using herbals and tinctures he mixes as LD treatments.

My adrenals, and all my hormones have been out of whack for years. I had everything tested in 8/13 via both hair analysis and saliva testing. This is how I found out what my levels were. I then connected the dots with my symptoms, and was tested for LD via IGeneX.

I have had issues with 'menopause' symptoms for at least 8 yrs now, and they have always been intense: everything you mentioned. Thus, no dr was thinking LD, but always hormonal/mental/fibro, etc.

Recently, about 2 months ago I started having cranial sacral therapy once a week. I've had a total of 6 sessions, each 1 hr. I also had 3 sessions of reflexology. I am taking a break due to cost. I hope to start again next month.

The changes in my hormone levels have been very noticeable in the last two weeks. I feel like a switch has been tured on inside of me in terms of interest in my husband. I haven't had that in years. Years. Now, it's like I'm a newly wed. I thought I'd never feel this again. I was wrong.

Many of my other symptoms have also lessened, like the sweats. I still have lots of pain, random twitches, etc. It's my adrenal system that has been changed.

Whether it was the supplements, the herbals, and/or the cranial massage, I don't know. I do know that with LD, the adrenals are hit hard, thus the hormones are, too. I decided that if it would be a good thing getting my adrenals to start functioning again, if I could. I researched, and realized that with diet (no caffeine, especially as that over taxes the adrenals), and massaging the adrenals I might be able to get this kind of 'jump started'. I think this is happening.

Take to heart what Traveller said about the testing. Again, the standard testing is inadequate. They give you the standard "Eliza" test, which is not going to find most of lyme cases. There are per 100 strains of borrelia, and it's testing for one.

There are tick borne specialist labs that are far more accurate. I used igenex, but there are others I can't recall off the top of my head.
