Hi Sleepless,
You're right, very few people want to talk about
this - but it's important. If you aren't regular (at least once a day), then there's toxins that your body is reabsorbing through the waste. When I first started with the treatments that have given me the most healing - we started with stopping the intestinal cramps and spasms and getting my intestines to function well enough that I would go at least that once a day minimum.
Above all, make sure you drink lots of water - 8 - 8ounce glasses is barely enough for me most of the time.
If you aren't experiencing the intestinal cramps and spasms, then it's a lot easier to get back on track. Although probiotics will help, it could easily take more than that to correct the problem. I would suggest that you start with increasing your fiber - not just in the foods you eat, but get a fiber supplement (metamucil, citracel, etc.). You may need to try out a few before you find one that works for you, so I would suggest that you only buy the smaller bottles until you find that one that works.
From time to time I also need to take a stool softener. These can help tremendously when the bm is quite hard or in little "pellets".
When I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing and still end up with constipation for more than a day or two (my intestines are really touchy), then I will use Milk of Magnesia. ~I get absolutely no compensation of any kind from this company~ It's the gentlest and sure fire way for me to get my intestines functioning again. I've learned how much to take depending on how much trouble I'm having that day. If you take a little too much, you'll want to not stray very far from a toilet,
but it works!
If you're "in trouble" with your intestines right now, I do have other suggestions, and I'd be happy to post them if you would like me to. Unfortunately, I have waaaayyyy too much experience with this!
