Hi Sue1981,
my son who is four is using Beyond Balance. He did 14 weeks of antibiotics and then a month of an anti-fungal and those both got him really close to symptom free; I always say about 95%.
We switched to herbs this past Sept., using Beyond Balance. I personally think they do a good job at finding and getting lyme, b/c when we upped the dose just a bit, he herxed pretty badly. Then with lots of detoxing the herxing has been better.
Have you been using Beyond Balance yet at all or are you just considering? I have read that Dr. Ann C. (a lyme dr. who speaks at ILADS conferences) likes Beyond Balance and uses them with some of her patients (she happens to be a pediatrician, but of course they are for anyone as I'm sure you know).
Once my son herxed a lot from them, I was asking around and reading and it seems that they can be strong for many people, so taking it slow is what we're doing now.
I will say that after the month on the herbs, with the herxing and then detoxing (and taking time off of the herbs too to detox; he's little and they threw him for a loop in a way, so I backed off a lot, again b/c he's so little, just 4), but anyway, according to my charting he's complained less of joint pain the last several weeks, so I'm thinking that they're working and paying off.
(wow, what a run-on sentence I just wrote!)
