I haven't gone to a doctor as I remove the ticks within an hour of getting them and I didn't get the typical bulls-eye rash. The rash that showed up a couple days later (I got the ticks 24/25th of May) I thought was bad mosquito bites at first because there were 1 or 2 pimple type lesions, then over the next few days after much itching these spread, so I thought it could have been chigger bugs. The rash has since subsided after hydrocortisone, vicks and salt mixture applied at night and calamine lotion. After a discussion with a work college who has had lyme disease, it has prompted me to go get it checked out.
I have done some internet searching and have seen that there a is a lyme disease testing centre in stoney brook, tried calling them tonight but the lyme disease person wasn't the .
I am weary of the walk-in medical care places because they may not have expertise in detecting lyme disease symptoms (the rash) and that it may be too early in the infection stage to have my bloods tested with confidence. I don't earn very much or have health insurance which limits my options as I do am not in a position of spending money on blood test (200-500$)
I don't have a primary doctor here as I an am immigrant(H1 B visa).
I am looking for a doctor with lyme disease experience in the long Island area
