Lyme hepatitis--anyone had it and/or can give info, advice?

My 11 yr. old son was diagnosed yesterday with hepatitis. Doctor says is from antibiotic, so have stopped Flagyl for 2 weeks and will retest blood.

In rereading side effects of Flagyl, I see two things that have cropped up lately for him--a few days of acid reflux, and itching feet at night that's been going on for a week now. So I'm actually happy hepatitis showed up so we could change abx. Learned my lesson; will do better checking side effects of meds when things appear.

So: how serious is the hepatitis, how easy is it to get levels to settle down, and what can I do to help things move along while we're off abx? I assume we ramp up the detox--added in bentonite clay now.

Globe Artichoke - the vegetable - is excellent for the liver and very safe, even for kids...it's a vegetable, after all!

Fish oil is also good for the liver and can help heal damage caused by medications.

Also, N-Acetyl-Cysteine and Alpha Lipoic Acid can help the liver recover from toxic injury more quickly, as these supplements are precursors to glutathione (a major detoxification pathway). Caution: don't use these if you have the CBS mutation (methylation testing)...

Yes, pill form gives the concentration needed for therapeutic use. But if your family enjoys eating artichokes, including them in your menu plan is a good idea too...
