Flu shot before start of Lyme symtoms?

Anyone else get a flu shot a couple weeks before symptoms began?

I received the shot on Oct. 14th and symptoms began just two weeks later. Not sure there's any connection at all, but thought I'd ask.

I know there's mercury in the shot so maybe that amplified symptoms and brought things to my attention more quickly.

I got very ill last time I got flu shot, took months to recovery to just feeling poorly. Not sure but I may have also had cortizone shot for elbow'before I heard about steroids and lyme nof to mention drs kept telling I did not have lyme.

ABSOLUTELY - there is a connection, without a doubt. When you get a vaccination, it weakens your immune system, and so the Lyme finds its way out.

The flu vaccine also has aluminum in it and that weakens the immune response as well. Studies show that if you get the flu vaccine two years in a row, you stand a higher chance of getting the flu than someone who did not get vaccinated at all.

I'm a certified immunizer, don't get the flu shot.

I have refused to get the flu vaccine for many years now due to a bad reaction to the flu shot back in 2004. As others have said, it will tax the immune system and ours is in bad shape as it is!

I have never been a believer in flu shots. (unless perhaps you're elderly and frail).
I also only gave my son the vaccinations that I felt the benefits outweighed the risks.

My husband was told he had to get the flu shot this past fall because of his work or wear a mask at work all day. He decided to get the shot (reluctantly), but couldn't imagine wearing the mask, as he goes out in public with his job, too. And, guess what? He got sick within a week of getting it.

Besides the lyme issue, as a pharmacist, although I have the license to administer the flu shots, I don't believe in them either! never gave them to my kids, never got them myself......I just feel that the risk is not worth it - they just make an assumption as to which strain will be the most prevelent in the season, so if you get a flu shot, but are incontact with a different strain, you can still get the flu!!

What is the FDA and CDC trying to do to us!?

My sons pediatrician urged my whole family to get it because my son had RSV in January 2013. I will never get it again.

Also remember that the flu vax is a LIVE virus vs a killed virus shot.

Had you son's pediatrician looked into the research, he would have seen that the infection rate for an immunized family is exactly the same as an unimmunized family. Why get the vaccine if the infection rates are the same?

I've never had one and I plan to keep it that way since homeopathy knocks them out. There is one remedy called "Infuenzinum" that is taken the first 3 days of each month, but I have yet to try it. I typically take a different one at the first sign of the flu.

The big risk with the flu shot is developing Guillain-Barre Syndrome. I've known a few people who have had it and one guy got it within a few months of the flu shot and believes that was the cause. The disease is known to be caused by an infection in the body and is an autoimmune reaction to that infection. Like Lyme, it affects the peripheral nerves. Could there be a connection? I see this guy walking around who had it and he has permanent Bell's Palsy and is lucky to be alive after what he went through.

Funny, my bad symptoms came out a little after tetanus shot.... I wonder if that weakens your immune system too...? I think I have had Lyme since I was younger. Always struggled with occasional muscle/ knee pain and thyroid problems.My doctor thinks i probably was infected with a weak strain, and I have a good immune system which helps. But it just started really effecting me neurologically at the age of 29.

yes, toddpaul - forgot to mention GB. My husband's grandfather had that happen to him. And when the swine flu was a big scare, there were numerous stories that were not reported on pregnant women who miscarried because of the shot. I was prego that year, good thing I knew better not to get it.

I got a shot for the "original" swine flu in the mid 70's when i was in college. It was the only time in my life that I got a flu shot. I got sick with the swine flu about a month later. That episode was the sickest that I have ever been in my life.

I got the flu one other time in my life, and it wasn't nearly as bad as when I got the flu shot. I don't recommend them at all. I have no doubt that flu shots are capable of reducing a person's resistance to disease.

I've lived in GA for 21 years and I think I've had the flu most of those years, except that last 4. When I got Lyme, I had to change the way I ate and by changing the way I eat, I don't get the flu any more. The flu has come through my house and at work and everyone I'm in close contact with has gotten it. I did not. By eating mostly vegetarian with meat only a couple days a week, it has increased my immunity tremendously.
