New in Lyme disease, scared and confused I need help!!!

Hi everyone! I received a phone call today from my GI and after I have been struggling with so many health issues for more than 5 months, from neurological to muscle pain and fatigue etc etc.., finally they told me I was positive in my blood test for Lyme, part of me I was feeling relieve after so many doctors visits and people telling it was all in my head that at least somedoby put a name in all my pain, but to be honest Im very very scare, I don't know what to do next, Im extremely confuse, and I don't have any health insurance so im pretty much in a black hole case, so if you are dealing with Lyme can you share the light with me on thi illness, maybe how bad it is, and what to do, I would appreciate it any info or help or advice you guys can give me and also it is true that it cost a lot of money to treat?? and if somebody knows any LLMD in Colorado Springs area? I've been looking everywhere in the web but I cant found any one. I don't know what to do guys, I feel very sad and confuse at this moment, Im hoping that somebody in this forum can help me because Im walking totally blind in this disease. Somebody told my husband told my husband that with 2 weeks of antibiotics tou start feeling better and then I read in internet that is not true! plus im allergic to penicillin I don't know that matters. anyway Thanks in advance for you all advices.

So glad you found this forum. You will find so much info and direction here. There are so many knowledgeable folks here who will share all that with you. Just hang in there....it takes time but I
am told you will get better!

Got blood test results from 6/25 draw and cd57 was 8. Igenex was sent also and told 4 to 6 weeks. Docs office called and said lowest cd57 he had seen. Also try's are way up. Any correlation? Very confused. Thanks

Thank you very much to you all for answering to me with such a warming welcome, support and advices! It makes a big difference for me to have somebody to talk to that have experience in this condition, it's so scary for me because it's something new that I never heard about till recently and even before I was diagnose I saw the movie under our skin and freaked me out, but I do believe every case it's different and also I do believe its hope to get better. I was feeling so lonely in this situation and more because people around me they don't even realize how serious this could be it's not like the flu you get this is something way more serious as far as I know, but now I feel a can see the light because at least I know why I was feeling so ill. The doctor didn't told me anything more than my test result was 100% positive on lyme so probably I need another test to check for co infections, I know I have a long way to go and learn more about this but I would really appreciate if anybody in this site would help me and hold my hand to walk through this, with your advices, your support.. like so many of you know that being diagnose with lyme it's something really frightening and scary but we are fighters right? Well, just one more round! Thank you to you all.

Sounds like my story:( I have health insurance but they deny a lot of my antibiotics. My LLMD has sent in my prescription to Rye beach pharmacy in NY. It is a great pharmacy that has an independent compound lab. I got a 900 dollar antibiotic for 120 a month. But don't worry I am sure sure most antibiotics are cheaper, the antibiotic I received is different from most because it is time released.

So once you find an LLMD ask to get your perscribtions at rye beach pharmacy unless antibiotics are affordable at your nearest pharmacy.

By the way the pharmacy in NY is extremely helpful and they shipped my meds in 2 days. I live in mass tho so might be a little longer were you r.

Also, I just want to add that we are here for you! You are absolutely right, every case is different, and everyone's immune system is different. There is no telling when the antibiotics will start making you feel better. I was lucky and felt better after a couple of weeks. I had all neurological symptoms. I currently have only muscle twitches and muscle jerks. BUT, that doesn't mean others will have the same experience, it can take some time.

Also, it is important for you to know that just because you start feeling better does not mean you can stop antibiotics! LLMDs will have you on antibiotics after symptoms subside for at least a couple of months longer to make sure it is under control.

My friend was bit three years ago with classic bulls eye rash and symptoms. Doctors immediately put her on doxy and she felt better after a couple of weeks and did not finish her antibiotics. Now after three years she is having symptoms again:( She regrets not taking all her meds but didnt know how serious lyme was.
