VERY elevated TGF-b1 and MSN was 12 input please

I usually don't freak out…as a person who has had adrenal and thyroid and now lyme issues I am pretty calm when new things pop up on labs but this one? Is freaking me out!!! Everything I am reading is about cancer and MS!! I have no genes for the HLADR series and I did most of the other surviving mold labs as well but this one is over 8,000! Can someone please lend me insight on this and what it means (without scare tactics please….I am VERY health conscious and on treatment for Lyme right now) but need more information than what i am finding on my own. Thanks in advance. confused

Faye1215, My TGF-b1 was also very elevated. From what I read about it, it is another indicator of inflammation. I have see a lot of other people with Lyme on other boards with elevated TGF-b1. I cannot comment of the MSN. I have not had that test and do not know anything about it.

Hi Faye,

I never had a MSN test (and know nothing about it), but I had several TGF-beta1 tests, and the results were always very high out of range. My dr uses this test (together with Interleukin-1, Interleukin-6, Interleukin-8, Interleukin-10, Interleukin-12p70, TNF, MIP-1beta and MCP1). It is called a cytokine panel. It indicates whether inflammation is high or not. Like that he can evaluate how bad someone is herxing.
Are you a little bit less worried with this information?


I hope someone chimes in with more information about the MSN test.

Yes this makes me feel better. Thank you. I got all he mild tests done and don't have he gene for any of those other HLA things so itust be the Lyme? Thank you again!q
