I would suggest that if a person really needed to take a break from treatments, that they coordinate with their doc to be sure that you are in a 'spot' where you can take a break and what you can take a break with.
As for me, I'm not in that position where I can take a break from meds - I need to get an attitude adjustment!!! LOL! No stopping adrenal, thyroid, arthritis meds or the herbs that stop my intestinal cramping - but I will be soooo glad when the elimination diet is over with!!! By that time I'll know what foods don't make my intestinal issues worse, and will be able to stay away from those foods that make my inflammation/arthritis worse. So that will be a
very happy day!
And Pirouette - there are a few people that will happily tell me that I'm
'special' - LOL!!!
but thank you. It's been a long haul and the prize is great - a life that I can live without the boundaries I've had most of my life.
We just have to take these things one step at a time. I can't even begin to look at the whole time this part of my healing may take - I don't want to risk saying "forget it! I'll find a way to deal with it." I've spent enough of my life "dealing with it" - and so have you by the sounds of it.
So we must put one foot in front of the other, and just keep at it. Some days are just hard and we have to accept that, but remember humor can make the road easier to travel - and friends that understand!!!
Something to keep in mind - cholesterol levels can rise with thyroid issues. Also be sure that you are looking at
all if the cholesterol numbers, not just one or two. My numbers are very high, but it's all of them that are high - even my "good" cholesterol (HDL & Triglycerides) are high, not just the LDL. Most docs just look at the LDL numbers.
You should talk with your doc about
getting your hormones balance back out though. Depending on just which ones are out of balance, it is likely making your body work harder to try to overcome that instead of just concentrating on healing.
