NUCCA Doctor Upper Cervical and Lyme Disease

Anyone with Lyme disease try a NUCCA doctor or a chiropractor for upper cervical adjustments? I thought it might help with treatment, but then I read somewhere that adjustments won't hold if you've still got Lyme?

My Lyme/fibromyalgia symptoms started after a lower back injury 10 years ago, then went to a local chiropractor for adjustments and that's when the pain/severe fatigue and weakness started. I think the Lyme may have got into my spinal cord or something which is why I still have many neurological symptoms (everything from pain, fatigue, nerve issues, to bladder problems ... basically had 3 pages of symptoms which no doctor wants to look at).

I go to a chiropractor who works on the neck - just behind the ear. I'm not sure if it's NUCCA or not. I believe it works by balancing the Atlas at the base of the head.

I have been going to him for years prior to my lyme. And am still wondering if I really had pinched nerve injury/thoracic outlet syndrome...or if it was the beginning of my lyme symptoms.

The first couple months I had to go weekly, as my adjustments were not holding, but then it was monthly, and now I go monthly, but I often don't need an adjustment.

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean your adjustments eventually held? What symptoms did it help with? And are you glad you went or do you regret going there?

Taroki many years ago when most of my symptoms were in my neck, I went to a NUCCA chiropractor and it helped so much. I had lost flexibility in my neck and could only turn it so far and it was so inflamed. I would definitely recommend it.

I would go. I have severe insomnia and sometimes after the chiropractor works on me I sleep much better. Plus I think that if your body is out of balance, it's harder to deal with the lyme.

Taroki - I still go to him. Prior to Lyme whenever I would see him, he would always "fix me". No pain, or pulling on the neck. I don't trust the "regular" chiropractors with my neck.
When I experienced "pinched nerve" symptoms - radiculopathy on my upper left side - I went to him and it took about two months and I was getting relief from my symptoms. Then, all of a sudden things went in the other direction, and I started to get other symptoms. I believe this is when my Lyme symptoms started. I still go to the chiro because he has helped me for so many years. Whether I have lyme disease or not, he keeps my spine aligned. It's non-invasive, doesn't hurt. I wouldn't let a "regular" chiro manipulate me. (just my opinion)

Thanks for the replies. I definitely have neck symptoms especially after it cracked again lately. My entire spine has just been so tight from all the inflammation, I recently took those Acai, Goji juice type things and wasn't expecting them to help with inflammation, I wish I didn't take those until I was ready for adjustments so they can "lock up" again after the adjustment and hold it in place.

Currently on Dr. Yasko's protocol and doing well on it (still on Step One).

Girlie, do you think the adjustments brought out the Lyme symptoms? Perhaps the Lyme got into the spinal cord?
