Just came back from my appt and he wants to take me off the other ANX I've been on and put me on Levaquin, thinking maybe I have Babs or Bart. Anybody else on this and any success. I swore I wouldn't take an ANX with the black box warning (might be already and not aware).

He said take it with Prilosec and Vit C 1000 mg 3 x day and I should be fine, not get the tendon issues. I am scared.

I am totally ready to go all herbal and flush the big pharma crap.

Ive ditched the abx and gone herbal and couldn't be happier.

Wow, is this an llmd prescribing this abx? I dont know gor sure it wasnt some other cause but I was very ill on levequin. I know everyone is different but that one has not been on my new llmds list abx she plans to trwat me with. Did the dr explain why levequin being prescribed vs other abx? Mt llmd explains what she expects each abxto do, purpose in the ttreatment.

Under the New to Lyme....start here under the Bartanella treatment it shows Levaquin as being one of the ANX.

I've just heard to many bad stories.

I took it around 2007 and it did a number on me. 1st I had pain in my achilles tendon's, they are damaged and continue to cause me pain on and off. I also woke up in the middle of the night with severe pain in my right side, called the Dr. and he told me to discontinue it.

I was given levaquin and cipro five years ago, am still having issues. Besides being a hellish drug on it's own, if you have a reaction to levaquin and have lyme, it will hopelessly cloud your symptom picture, as you'll have a near impossible time figuring out whether a symptom is lyme or levaquin related, or possibly both. Also, I was taking lots of vitamin c and it didn't stop an adverse reaction in the least. I'd stick with safer antibiotics or go all natural.

While Levaquin does have the potential for adverse reactions, when taken correctly, it poses much less of a threat. I took Levaquin for an entire month and I don't even like to take medications. Do adverse reactions occur, sure they do. If most of you knew the potential side effects to most medications, you wouldn't take them.

Did the Levaquin work for me? I don't know, but I haven't had a foot pain since.

See??? It's a gamble who will get the issues and who won't.

One thing for sure, if it is pulsed 5 days on 5 days off. And you have support abx on your 'off days' and you take vitamin C, magnesium, alpha lipoic acid, and curcumin (all at a dosing time away from the drug esspecially the magnesium). You will reduce the damage done. And will reduce the chance of major permanent damage done. But there still is that chance. And likely some damage will occur regardless if it is significant enough for us to notice or not.

I think I have lost faith in prescription drugs. Everyday there are commercials saying IF YOU OR SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY TOOK THIS DRUG AND ......and they precede to read off the things that happened including death.

Sometimes I wonder which is worse, the illness or the side effects of the cure.

PrayingForAMiracle - Those tv ads are almost comical....the list goes on and on of all the horrific things that can happen to you if you take the med.
I'm on a break from my abx - trying to get rid of a itchy rash on my back that also spread to my chest area. Supposed to start a new antibiotic....but need to know for sure what's causing this rash.

I hate taking the pills.

I don't know. It seems like many of these antibiotics have serious side effects.

I think Lyme disease should have a black box warning too!

Volyme thanks for posting that link, I already have some neuropathy in my left hand plus my dad had it. Not sure if his environment caused it, if it can be inherited or perhaps he took this drug.

I know my mother in law has be prescribed Cipro on several occasions and ends up in the hospital each time with complications.

I am feeling pretty good right now with 9 months of treatment under my belt and don't want to do anything that will hamper it.

Chloe24,

I think that list is just stating what common treatments are. It's not a recommendation. Several of the folks I know that have been treated have been prescribed this drug and had no issues, so I would guess that it is (or was) used fairly often in treatment. Thankfully, healingwell provides a place to discuss treatments so you can get the valuable info that is provided here to further research and base your choice of what you want to use for your treatment.

I also wanted to mention that flagyl & tinidazole can also cause a neuropathy in patients! But according to what I read it is generally reversible.

Ya I am going to pass on the Fluorquinolones for sure. I have avelox here but it is just not worth the risk. My goal is to get 100% well and I am unsure that can happen if I get tendonitis or nerve damage.

Some say the reason for the nerve damage is heavy damage to mitochondria.

I am going to order the Houttuynia today.

Lymepickle - Dr. C. mentioned Flagyl for me after a few weeks of Ammox to bust the cysts, I guess.
I'm thinking I will only do it for two weeks or so, and then switch to something natural - GSE - which I'm wondering....did it get resolved about what GSE is safe and not contaminated?

No wonder we don't get better - so much crap to filter through.
