Hi Marine!! I'm so glad you returned!!
I don't know what your "new doc" is saying, but a Lyme infection doesn't just go away and false positive results are very, very rare, since they test for only a few of the over 100 strains that can cause human illnesses.
I can also see that you have EBV, Cytomegalovirus, and a vitamin D deficiency. The EBV and vitamin D deficiency is actually quite common in Lyme disease patients.
So now you've "baited the trap" and have got me hanging waiting to hear what your "new doc" has to say!!! I surely hope you reply soon!! LOL!
Well, once this doctor read me those NEW labs. He told me all about
it and its background. I asked him about
the initial symptoms of Cytomegalovirus, he gave me a brief overview of it and of course I remember the exact time I had those same symptoms which was the 2nd week into Marine Corps boot camp, 2005. Which the hospital at MCRD diagnosed it as "Viral Gastroenteritis", did no testing and sent me away with some anti-diareha medicine, all the symptoms lasted about
a week. Some other symptoms like fatigued and mid back pain/tingling just kind of lingered though.
He told me he rarely sees cases of CMV in non-immunosuppressed individuals. Which is why he ran HIV screening on me, even though I've had 6-7 of those done previously by military and VA. lol
Anyways, this outside provider isn't sure about
the Lyme. He isn't a Lyme literate doctor anyhow. But he said he will put a referral in to see a different ID specialist. So this time Ill get an outside VA provider which will be interesting. He pretty much told me he doesn't care what any other docs have said, whether they were military or VA or specialists. He first wants to build his own "profile" of me based off my history of symptoms. I told him I would prefer that he tested things he thought may be possible causes even if they are just to rule out other things. I have only seen him a few times, he seems to have made more progress than most of my military docs.
He does want me to go on an "anti-viral" medication though. I believe it is called acyclovir.
