Lyme Disease an STD?

Well I've been ill for 15 yrs and my husband for about 7 but hid most of it till recently he told me, our bands are almost identical, so who gave it to whom is my question. If it shows up in bodily fluids then I would say it can be sexually transmitted. But if your immune system is strong then it could stay dormant.

I believe too it is found in sexual fluids... I caught it from someone's tear! Yes, I swear upon it, it changed my life forever. I had no tick bite. So yes it is in bodily fluids for sure.

The issue of "is it contagious". The answer is yes, but it depends on a few factors like the state of the infection inside the person, did they treat, what is the health of their immune system, are they on antibiotics, how long have they had the infection for, etc. So there are variables in the equation of it being contagious and transmitted person to person.

If someone is treated sufficiently with no more active symptoms at all... Then Probably it will not be transmitted. But who knows maybe there is a potential risk?

Would you say you could be passing it on through kissing or just sexually?

Agreed! But, a person can also just as easily not get these infections from a spouse. My husband and I have been married for 14 years and he has never, not once, shown any symptoms of these infections. So his immune system is keeping him from getting these infections from me.

But don't think that I don't worry about it!

It is an important question for EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE. It is contagious through bodily fluids. Period. Why all the appropriate agencies—medical, regulatory, governmental and otherwise—aren't all over this issue and the fact that they aren't testing for it in the blood supply is criminal.
