Epsom salt baths

Hi everybody,

please in New to Lyme the temperature of water is said to be not more than 98, is it in farenheits? that means around 37 Celsius? And am I supposed to sweat in the Epsom salt bath or notice something? cos I feel like nothing is going on. I just want to do this right as I dont do so many things for detox. What other cheap ways of detox u use?

I love Epsom salt baths but I break the rules. I go as hot as I possibly can stand. They say at a certain temperature the lyme start to die and cause die-off/herx? why would you want to avoid that? so I just go super hot.

James, I do the exact same thing. The hotter the better. I take them so hot my skin turns red . . .
Also, you can stay in them longer that way.

To answer your question cranberry - it is in Farenheit.

I think the reason to not go very hot is if you're using it for detox, you may be wanting it for relief of herxing.
If you have it too hot, and kill bacteria, and herx...that will perhaps defeat the purpose??

Other cheap detox: Drink lots of water...drink all day long - 64 ounces - which is about 8 cups of water. Add lemon juice from an organic lemon - drink with a straw or you could damage your teeth.

Take a milk thistle supplement to help with your liver (active ingredient is silymarin)

Buy a natural bristle brush and "dry brush" your body - before the epsom salt bath is a good time to do it.

Add some psyllium husks to your water - this will keep your digestive tract clean and moving. Do not get the psyllium in the container that has artificial sweetener in it. I go to a health food store for mine and buy it in bulk.

Go for daily walks.

That's a few cheaper and easy things to do. Although the milk thistle isn't the cheapest supplement to buy.

When I have the bath...I feel better during the bath..it relieves some of my pain...but within an hour of getting out, I feel my pain again.

So, I probably should be having several baths throughout the day.

What symptoms do you have Cranberry? and do you not feel better while you're in the bath?
Are you staying in long enough?

Thank you all :) I think I need more detoxing than killing the bacteria. I didn t devote enough time and effort to detoxing and really need to change this.

Girlie, yes I feel some relief, when I am in bath the pain isnt so intensive. I stay inside for about 25-30 minutes. My symptoms are mostly the joint pain which change from place to place, muscle aches, extreme fatigue plus some neurological symptoms as brain fog and blurred vision - these went a bit better but it is still not it.

Cranberry - if it provides relief...that's good! Do you have some relief for awhile after you get out of the bath, too?

This healing won't happen over night...it will take time.

Are you treating with antibiotics? Do you see a Lyme Literate Dr.?

Have you read the thread at the top of the page titled: "New to Lyme?...Start Here." It will provide you with lots of good information - including some more ideas for detoxing.

Keep posting on here if you have questions/concerns...or just comments. Lots of knowledge on this forum...and helpful people.

Because for some, their toxin load is high enough that killing off more bacteria (hence creating more toxins) will make the herxing even worse.

I also soak my feet, when I can't do a full bath. I put the Epsom salt and hydrogen peroxide in a little foot basin and soak them. I also use really hot water if I can stand it.

Sometimes. You could try a little lavender essential oil in the bath too. That might help you relax and promote sleep.
