Hi Windy,
I have seen the NP in Collierville and Dr C in Tunica. I am relatively new to Lyme...at least in knowing that I have it...was diagnosed about
6 months ago. I think I was infected >30 yrs ago. I have not started treatment yet. I'm still researching what I think is best plan.
The NP is great. Very nice, has Lyme herself and advocates an antibiotic protocol. She does address methylation issues prior to starting antibiotics. She consults with Mary Ross who is a LLMD who runs a big website. I'm not sure of his reputation. I think his protocols are largely available publically...on his website or other places.
I think the downside with the NP is that she is still relatively new to Lyme so she is learning. She does not bring a background of experience. She is learning along with her patients. She is a good listener and easy to get in to see.
Dr C in Tunica: I saw him a couple months ago. My experience was that he was very nice but quite scattered and did not offer a clear treatment plan. I didn't leave with confidence...I will probably go back since I liked him and my insurance will pay. He told me that "Lyme may only be 20% of your issue" and instead wanted me to start with yeast treatment. Whatever I would mention, he would say it was a great idea and to try that.
He has a good background of chiro then alternative med training and then med school. He is definitely alternative minded.
If you do see him, my biggest tip would be to *write down what you want to communicate and insist that you read it in entirety prior to his feedback*. You need to keep him on track to get what you need. Otherwise, he will go off on rabbit trails and you will leave feeling like you didn't even cover your basic symptoms. This is what happened with me. He has lots of stories and expressions he uses. He spent 1.5 hrs with me but a good bit of it was spent with him telling me about
his training and mentors, etc, etc.
I'm still accepting that a big part of Lyme is accepting the lack of clear protocols based on science and studies and that you have to deal with the trial and error of it all. So factor that in to my review of Dr C.
He works for govt agency and so staff and communication is less than ideal.
He really is a nice and humble guy and probably has lots to offer if you can get it.
I hope this helps you. Happy to answer any questions.
