Asymptomatic kids

My daughters symptoms began when she was 12. I think puberty may have played a role. My oldest son is 11, the younger is 9. Puberty is on the way for the older one, and I do wonder about the ADD. It seems worse, but he also started middle school, so school and homework have gone up a notch.

I hate these decisions, and I hate that most likely, I gave them this horrid disease!

I would agree with Traveler in treating your son with ADD. An herbal-only treatment may work for him if ADD is his only symptom. His immune system is obviously coping somewhat or he would have a full blown presentation.

Our daughter's ADHD has resolved completely with herbal treatment (Buhner) for bartonella/babesia. Much more so than it ever did with 2 full years of combo abx for bartonella.

We have not treated lyme, even though her Igenex results were similar to both your sons': not blaring but 41+, 39 IND.

We have found that as our daughter's health and immune strength improves, the number of bands registering on her Igenex WB are actually increasing. I don't think this is because she is experiencing more infection, but because her immune system is responding more appropriately and developing more antibodies. She has never had a down turn on herbs that wasn't associated with a herx - we have only seen improvement.

My thinking on your asymptomatic son is a little different.

I would think that there are many infected, yet asymptomatic, people surviving just fine with positive antibodies in their systems. Ticks are most likely not the only arthropods carrying lyme/coinfections, and most everyone experiences mosquito/horsefly/deerfly bites during warmer seasons. Antibodies simply mean that they have had or are now dealing with infection naturally. Their immune systems and detox systems are working properly.

If this is the case for your second son, I would skip the antimicrobial herbs and focus on LOW DOSES of herbs which help to support

1) immune function (astragalus (be expecially careful with this one - we use 500mg 3x weekly), ginseng, COLD-FX (a ginseng extract), ginger, garlic, cordyceps mushroom, probiotics/fermented vegetables, exercise) and

2) detox/liver support (milk thistle, turmeric, magnesium, garlic, probiotics/fermented vegetables).

Keep an eye out for any developing clinical symptoms, and turn to the antimicrobial herbs only if needed.

Your first son will of course have to use the immune supporting and detox/liver supporting herbs along with any antimicrobials he will be using.

Sorry, I don't recall your diagnosis AML94, but if you are treating yourself for coinfections, I would also assume your children have them. Lyme may not be the only infection responsible for your first son's ADD. Our daughter's was caused by a babesia/protozoan of some type.

Do not feel guilty in the least about passing along infection. Mother's have been passing bacteria (both good and bad) along to their offspring since the beginning of life on earth. It has always been this way and applies to other animals as well.

The problem these days is that mother's immune systems can be compromised and weakened by multiple vaccination (our immune systems are not allowed to naturally develop and the immunity conferred by vaccination is not long lasting or strong enough to be passed to our children). The bacterial part of the immune system housed in our gut is compromised by the antibiotic action of pesticides and by use of antibiotics themselves.

With weakened immune systems, we pass higher loads of pathogenic bacteria to our offspring and they develop illness when their weakened immune systems can not handle the burden. It wasn't the case that the bacteria didn't exist in previous generations, just that our bodies can't handle them now because we are weakened.

Conventional medicine and food production are seriously compromising our bodies and those of upcoming generations. We have only seen the beginning.

See... Some LLMDs hold the opinion if they have no symptoms don't treat. As in don't treat the test, treat the symptoms. Other LLMDs say if they have tested positive for lyme they should be treated otherwise there could be issues down the road.

One thing about children... Well they don't know what would be a symptom and what is not a symptom. As in they sometimes they can't really tell if something is wrong.

I am in this boat as well, although I haven't tested my kids. I know now that I was infected during the pregnancies however. It's so hard to know what's normal kid stuff and what could be a symptom. My 4 year old daughter has frequent "growing pain" type leg and foot pain. My 1 year old son has frequent respiratory infections and a sensitive stomach. Both meet all milestones fine, and my DD is a smart kid.

With what I know of the insidious nature of Lyme and co, how little tiny things can creep up over years, I think I will treat them if their WB show IND or positive bands, although I'm not sure if I'll go antibiotics or herbals to start. I really need to find a LL ped.
