LLMD in South England with GMC official warning!!! can they be trusted?

Hi everyone,

I haven't been officially diagnosed yet but after a lot of research and talking to you guys i am convinced I have Lyme. Had a classic bullseye about 10 yrs ago. I live in the south east of england and have been recommended a LLMD, in Hemel Hempstead, by a couple of people and was just about to make an appointment when I came across an article from the General Medical Council which stated the LLMD there had been given a formal warning for giving treatment to someone (completely unrelated to Lyme).

I am wondering if anyone has been treated at this clinic and if you would trust them. My dilemma is also that my symptoms are quite mild compared to a lot of you but I have made my diagnosis because, apart from a lot of typical Lyme symptoms, I keep coming back to the fact that I had a bullseye.

Because my symptoms are reasonably mild,(more of a nuisance than life changing), I want to go to some who i can trust to give me an accurate diagnosis and not just treat me for the sake of getting work.

Any help would be appreciated.

My LLMD also had some questionable things in his past. MANY do. However, when it comes down to either treating or not treating and you are confident that you have Lyme, then you need to make the choice with who you trust. In your previous post, I mentioned that a lot of Lyme doctors have sanctions and warnings. Even if the situation was unrelated to Lyme, LLMD's have targets on their backs for going outside the standard of mainstream guidelines like the IDSA. Any minor mistake will be much more likely to be recognized with a LLMD.

For example. How come nobody is questioning or going after the ID doctor that misdiagnosed me and allowed me to progress from acute to late stage with full neurological involvement? The politics surrounding this disease are very troubling.

For me it was an easy decision. I had one doctor telling me to take antidepressants and go to a psychologist (after MANY objective signs of Lyme and a CDC positive test) and another that was willing to treat me as a human being. Treatment isn't always antibiotics either. My LLMD takes into account what I want to do regarding herbs, supplements, abx, lifestyle factors etc.

Hi Hugh

I am new to this board - found it today - so good to find it!
I have what I now suspect is Lymes.
I was bitten by at least one tick while loading my woodshed four years ago.
From being a fit and strong woman I have gradually turned into almost an invalid. I now have difficulty standing / walking, rapid heartbeat as well as a procession of other ailments that seem to be symptomatic of the disease. The more I research the more I am convinced.
I have had scans and every blood test available. My GP is trying to help but has been struggling
to diagnose from my diverse symptoms. I am now waiting for my Lymes result.In your opinion is there any point in going down the antibiotic route if the doctor is willing? Could it be detrimental in the long run? Do you have any opinion on specific antibiotics and doses.

I will keep reading and learning, but would value your opinion

BTW it's customary not to mention LLMDs by name on open forum - there are so very few in the UK and we need to protect them!
