Hormonal Imbalance, Birth Control and LYME

My Dr prescribed estrogen and progesterone becuz she was blaming my anxiety and low mood symptoms on perimenopause. This was beforey lyme diagnosis. After two weeks my symptoms exploded - apparently it was just coincidence but I think it triggered the lyme.
birth control is estrogen and progesterone in larger doses so Im not surprised that it happened to you but not one Dr I have seen agrees that it had that effect on me.
When I increased the dose on the advise of my Dr, my symptoms ramped up. This happened twice.

I have the Mirena IUD and im 25. It helps with endometriosis. I'm glad that I have it keeping my uterine lining thin becuase i know these infections can trigger early menopause. Im pretty sure anyway...?

My gynaecologist put me on progesterone 2 years ago since I had problems with endometriosis. It really helped with the endo pain to begin with.

Last year I had to have an operation to remove some cysts in my uterus. This year she continued me on it because I said I was still very irregular and she thought it might help.

It hasn't really done anything at all to help this year.

She doesn't know anything about Lyme, but I have been having hot flashes and irregularities and anxiety problems for a couple of years now. My LLND who I started seeing earlier this year thinks it is partly Babesia and partly that the lyme could be bringing on my perimenopause. (I am 43 and my family haven't normally reached this stage until their early to mid-fifties)

Recently I decided to give Siberian Ginseng a try because I read it supports the adrenal system. On the positive side it made my head feel a little clearer so I actually felt I could think properly. It also seemed to ease the pain and stiffness in my whole body and seemed to give me a bit more stamina to get through my day.

On the downside after the first couple of days, I was feeling really jittery, like I've had strong caffeine all day and I can't sleep either. So I'm just trying reducing the 3 a day recommendation to 1 a day and see if it helps.

Strangely enough, psycologically I felt I was going a bit nuts. Because in my head it made me feel clearer but because of the jittery/buzzing feeling and I still felt really ill, I just didn't know what to do with myself. It is really difficult to describe.

Has anyone else tried Siberian Ginseng to help with their adrenals and how did you get on?

I'm already on knotweed and cat's claw as well, that makes me herx but not feel better.

I've stopped and started with the ginseng over the last week and it's definitely that. I took one at midday today and my head is just that bit clearer without causing any other problems.

I'm not feeling physically great but it's enough to help me generally through my day I think.

So I'll see how it goes and see if I manage some sleep tonight.


I remember when I was searching for an LLMD and my MD prescribed me Cymbalta for Fybro symptoms, I didn't do very well on that either. I know that is something different but it gave me the same jittery feeling and sleepless nights strangely enough.

Maybe that explains why I went into menapause at 40 and peri started probably about the time I got Lyme. Never took anything for it till I hit 49 then I did the bio-identical hormones like Suzanne Somers promotes. It got rid of my hot flashes and the dryness you get but didn't make me feel better like most people do on it. Even when my hormones are checked, it still shows me in menapause so I think the Lyme has something to do with it.
