A rash this morning

Several yrs ago I got really sick, fatigued, bronchitis, a rash on my belly, the sickness lasted for 2 months. I went to the doctor 3-4 times cause I wasn't feeling better.

Then last yr I got the Lyme diagnosis.

Been taking Bactrim and plaquinil for 2 weeks and today I have a rash, a red bumps every where and it itches somewhat.

Haven't been tested for co-infections, the doc said they will rear their ugly head.

Have had some foot pain off and on, only in morning but nothing bad.

Anybody have a clue?

I get rashes all the time since starting abx 3 weeks ago. Sometimes it's my whole body with a lacey looking red rash especially on my stomach. Just now my neck got a huge blob of red with streaks coming off of it. I have tiny red dots on my chest. I get the big blotchy rash on random parts of my body especially my butt stomach neck and upper back. I get really itchy too. I'd love to know more about it also.

I started treatment last month with Clindamycin and within 2 days had the red, itchy rashes. For me it was an extreme allergic reaction to the medication so my doc switched my abx.

I think you should be careful as I know my original thought was that it was a herx reaction but it was actually a very dangerous allergic reaction. I would stay in close touch with your doc and let him/her make the call.

I would agree to be very, very careful. And if you notice that your throat starting to swell, don't waste time and get to an Emergency room!!!!

Do you have any other symptoms of an allergic reaction? The itchy red rash is a pretty good indicator that you might be allergic to the abx.

IMO you just can't be too careful when dealing with possible abx allergies!!! They get dangerous quick!

Thanks for the replies, I didn't even think much about an allergic reaction since I've been on the new ANX for 2 weeks but I guess they can happen at any time.

I don't notice any other symptoms and I'm off ANX on the weekends and will be going to my LLMD Monday for my husbands appt so I will wait before I take anymore and ask him.

I was thinking some kind of co-infection.

I'm also on bactrim and I was told by my LLMD to discontinue it and call him immediately if I got a rash. He said its a sulfa based drug and it's known for causing allergic reactions in some people.

Yes - bactrim is one you want to be careful with - especially with a rash. It can cause a serious problem starting with a skin rash. It is rare though.
Good idea to stop taking it until you see the Doc.

Thx for all the input, I'm glad I decided not to take my 2 dose on Friday since it was making me really thirsty. I don't think I would have considered it an allergic reaction so you saved me from starting again on Monday (I don't do ANX on the weekends).

I'm glad I have this forum, everybody is such a huge help!
