Wish My Daughter Luck!

We went to the 2nd dentist today to gt a 2nd opinion on whether or not she has to have a tooth pulled. The first one was insistent that she get it pulled, telling her that at least 3 times. A cavity had started under a cracked filling and may be in the root a little. The new dentist today said she will look it over good at the next appt. to see if she can save it. She really wants to try to. We'll go back next Monday. We like the 2nd one better and can understand her better. The other has a strong accent that is hard to understand. I tried her first since she's close by. She's a holistic dentist and so is the other one, but I think the first one takes the whole body into account more than the 2nd, but I could be wrong. They both said they get a lot of Lyme patients. There are several others I could try, but I think I'm comfortable enough with the 2nd one. I was nice to be with 2 who have some understanding of Lyme. I told them both that root canals weren't a choice and that's what the 2nd one might suggest. It will have to be my daughters choice though, since she's not a kid any more. She also has to have some deep cleaning done along her gum line, so that will be painful afterwards. We'll all be glad when it's all over with.

Thanks Louise. I have some work that needs to be done too. I've put it off too long since I was putting my mom first when she was declining, so that was 3 years. Then I put my focus back on my daughter since she needs to get on with her life. That has been a good part of her life. Maybe after she gets the tough part of her dental work done, I'll start in on mine.

Garden, I hope your lovely daughter chooses the least painful and healthiest alternative. I hope they make it easy for her.

I wish I could find a dentist that understood Lyme, I need one with the dental issues I'm facing!!! But there is no way it will happen soon enough for me - Lyme knows to stop at our state borders, don't you know? There is no Lyme in Arkansas so why would we need to have dentists that understand it?

I've had so many root canals over the past 12 yrs or so before I knew I had Lyme. Wonder if that was the cause of them all.

I hate dental work. I understand we can heal cavities but good nutrition and oil pulling, Google it and see what you find.

Thank you Mike. We'll see what happens on Monday. If she can save the tooth, then the stress will drop off some. The deep cleaning will be the next concern. I want her to so some oil pulling with coconut oil to get rid of some of the bacteria before we go in. We'll see.

Thank you Cat. I get mine here, tropicaltraditions.com/ I use other products they have, so it's just easy to get it from them, plus I take advantage of their sales. There are other good brands too, but this would save you a trip to the store. The site also has recipes.

We got through the day with an 80% chance of saving the tooth. The cavity is just barely at the tip of the nerve, which is when she'd normally do a root canal, but I told her it could create more problems in the long run at our first appt. and she was fine with that, so she remembered that and didn't push it. She'll put a crown on it in a couple of weeks and is hopeful that it will work. I really appreciate her trying. She's a very nice person and was so sweet to my daughter. I just wish it was closer! Time will tell whether or not it works. I feel more optimistic after today.

Thanks Cat. Time will tell if it holds. She's doing pretty well today, without the massive headache she expected from the tension. I do wish the first one had worked out since she's a biological dentist. From her viewpoint, she may have had some good reasons for pulling it. I just don't like the idea of drilling into her jaw bone for an implant while her gums are a problem...or even if they weren't.

A laser was used to cut away the gums that had grown onto her tooth, so I was glad to see they did it that way.

Next time, she'll go in to get the crown put on and maybe they'll do the deep cleaning then. She has some small cavities to be taken care of too. Then after that she will be done with the dental work for now, as long as the crown doesn't become a problem. I'll have her do rinses with the essential oil mix some more to see if it will help her gums.
