What did your LLMD have to say when you reported the issues you've been having
since starting doxy?

There has to be something that can help until this passes...

From what I read in "The Lyme Disease Solution", anxiety and/or panic attacks are most definitely a manifestation of Lyme.

And, from what I've read on this forum (and MANY places elsewhere, including many speeches by Drs. Burrascano and Horowitz), it's entirely possible to heal from Lyme with the proper treatment.

I'm glad to hear the really bad attacks have diminished and sorry to hear about the other issues that make it hard to function. This does seem to be how it goes. Lyme treatment takes a long while, unfortunately.

Your brain isn't ruined....it's sick right now and you're getting the proper treatment. You WILL heal - I have no doubts.

I think you'll come out on the "other side" even better than you were before....only because you've endured what's involved with Lyme treatment and your life perspective will surely reflect this.

You are probably herxing. It can really make someone much more anxious and overwhelmed.
Please try to detox as much as possible.

I don't recognize myself either. I can't tolerate anything on some days, my senses are totally overwhelmed. Luckely I got to know my husband when I was already sick. I admire him, cause he is still putting up with it, 11 years. I'm not all the time like that though, luckely. But he's up for a good treat when my body decides to heal itself: a new episode with a non nagging wife... lol

Hold on, the symptoms will disappear once you will be healed.

Yesterday I just told my adult son, me crying of course, that I'm 'just like my Mother!', and bless his heart, he said, "Oh, no Mom, you're not. Even though this Bart/Lyme stuff gets you upset and you might say or do nasty things, you ALWAYS come back and apologize, and we know this isn't YOU. But, your Mom never takes responsibility for any of the mean things she says and does. Mom, YOU are NOT like your Mom, not at all!"

And, this is the pit of hell, a science fiction horror story. But real.

The L/co really has my entire system messed up. And the frustration is overwhelming at times. Yes, I guess we need to just try and hang on.

None of us do, and we should not end up there.

But, in all fairness, I did tell my fiance and adult son yesterday, that if I ever start to 'act out agressively' and they aren't able to talk me down/through it, or I'm started to talk really 'off', or start to hurt myself or another, they are to call 911 for an ambulance and take me to the psych ward.

My Bart has started to create some issues with me, and I'd rather have a plan in place, just in case.
I pray we never need this part of the plan, but I can't have my family unprepared to do what might be necessary.

Sad, isn't it? But, this is my reality. And, if I fail to plan, I could plan to fail. I'm beating this, I pray it won't beat me.

So, yes, this is overwhelming on every level, every day.

I feel like even if I do beat this, I'll have PTSD from all the suffering I've endured.

I wasn't crazy weeks ago. So it must be the meds/herxes. I used a ton of Xanax today, it made me sleep most of the day. Feeling a little better now. Not as crazy, anxious, agitated.

I guess this is just my new life now. I will need to learn how to play these cards I have been dealt.

I, too, questioned the 200mg doxy Rx'd by my LLMD (and I wasn't started on another med like you were...)

During my first appointment with my LLMD, he commented that ILADS changed their guidelines....which they did. The 2014 guidelines are based upon the latest-greatest research and clinical evidence - what has shown to be successful in treatment.

The 2014 guidelines show 200mg doxy as the appropriate starting dose. They also mention that choice of antibiotic and dosing should be based upon the individual patient's situation.

The 2004 guidelines are what indicated 400mg as the starting dose.

Quite recently, when I was reading on the ILADS site, I became confused because they mention the 2014 guidelines and the link for them actually brought you to guidelines that had "2004" printed on the lower right hand corner of many pages.

I somehow stumbled upon what I *thought* were the 2014 guidelines....and those guidelines referenced "recommendation 2b" (for antibiotic choices and dosing). The doses were lower than what was listed on the linked guidelines that had "2004" printed on some of them.

Traveler actually contacted ILADS. They thanked her for bringing this to their attention and said their webmaster would address the issue.

Well, their site was updated....and the link to the 2014 guidelines lists the lower doses.

Click on the "view guidelines" link on the ILADS site and you will be brought to another site that shows the 2014 guidelines. Look for recommendation 2b which lists dosages:

For whatever it's worth, I think we all need to remember that people further down their Lyme roads might be taking higher doses than those just starting treatment. What if the patient starting a new antibiotic experiences an adverse reaction? A higher dose of a particular med can make that much, much worse.

It's clear to me that doxy is doing its thing for you, utahgal. Can you imagine how bad you might feel if your doctor started you on double the dose you're taking?

While I know you've suffered needlessly and I'm VERY sorry about that, you *are* finally being treated.

I think we need to have faith in the process.....especially since it's been proven that healing from Lyme does happen.
