Did anyone have 2 months of IV & get better?

I am wondering this because my rheumatologist is only giving me IV meds for 2 months. I will be done in 3 weeks, but I am still having sx.

Doesn't ILADS say 2-3 months sx free before stopping abx?

Has anyone gotten better after 2 months of Rocephin?
(I've had a year & a half of multi abx protocols prior to the IV & have been making great strides w/ IV).

If you've had a short course of IV Rocephin, were your sx gone by the end of IV, or did your doc continue oral abx?
I'd be very grateful to hear your experiences here.

My LLMD says that Rocephin does a great job, but it won't guarantee a remission by itself. Many times, its done all it can do after 4 weeks, because it will kill off a lot of Bb, but at a certain

point they've seen it long enough that they've all gone dormant into cysts, or the L-forms which Rocephin won't hit. Zithromax is good for L-forms and getting into tissues.

I'm in the middle of a 6 week course of IV Rocephin 3x/wk with a host of other ABX along with it, and my LLMD says that as long as my sx are gone before I finish the Rocephin, I should be able to

maintain the remission with a few more months of oral ABX for the co-infections that also treat Lyme.

I'm also taking multiple herbals and supplements to complement the ABX, and will continue those after all the ABX, tapering down to the minimum maintenance plan eventually.

My doc seems pretty confident, and I will have been on multiple combos of ABX for 9 months when I'm done with Rocephin, so hopefully it'll work. I would talk about a maintenance plan for post-Rocephin ABX or herbal treatment if I were you.

Assuming that by "risk" you mean infection:
I recently had a "smart port' IV installed into my chest. I've learned quite about it and the new ports like this that they have are much much lower risk with proper care. Although some people had no problems, the picc is known to be more problematic. Perhaps, if you are interested in an IV approach for continued treatment you might want to suggest your doc consider the more current options.

And I agree with a previous poster's suggestion to be treated by your LLMD—not anyone else. Maybe in your case, your LLMD can direct traffic while the doc you are closer to can treat you. But this is likely a short-term situation considering how your insurance company will likely be more responsive to the LLMD's orders for expensive treatment than another doctor who doesn't have this specialty. And for the reason that the lyme dr is a specialist, which you definitely need.
