Speaking of neuro., does anyone have trouble swallowing, along with things getting stuck in the esophagus?

What about trouble pooing and peeing, i.e. lack of urge (with peeing, if I'm sitting down, I don't realize I have to pee until I stand up). With pooing, I have to use glycerin suppositories, bc I feel no urge whatsoever.

Traveler -

Just spoke to my Doc and he feels that i should stick to the ceftin at the same dose for another two weeks and where we are. If there is no more improvement then I will go on the Rocephin. Since he feels that I definitely responded to the ceftin, there is no need to change it now 500/2x. Just like everybody else on this board, I've completely run out of patience and want this healed yesterday. I wish he would have increased my dosage. I asked but he said no. I also asked about going to a 3rd generation cephalosporin like suprax or cefdinir and he again said no. I'm a little surprised by this, but I guess why change what is working.

Margaret, the swelling and things getting stuck in your throat is exactly what I felt when I had trouble with my thyroid, but because the swelling was only on the backside of my thyroid - a very unusual presentation - it didn't show up on any scans and my thyroid 'numbers' all were within the lowest range, so no one would even consider trying treatments. Once I found a doc that would consider my symptoms, she started me on Armour thyroid to see if that would help my symptoms.

The swelling and swallowing issues all went away once I reached taking .5mgs am & pm - although I'm now on a dose of 1 mg am and .5 mgs in the afternoon now. My thyroid numbers aren't moving much, but my doc is now waiting to see what happens with them as I heal from Lyme. After talking with me a bit and asking some questions about Lyme, she decided that the Lyme could be affecting my thyroid again, so we will just "hold steady" for now.

It sounds like your doc has a definite plan in place. Are you going to see him in two weeks? I would ask him at that time to lay out his treatment plan for you - that way you will be better able to understand what he is doing and why. Don't be shy about asking questions either!!! Get him to explain why he believes this will work for you.

I've been having swallowing/throat issues. Sometimes my swallowing mechanism is weak and I'll have to thoroughly clear my throat before I can swallow saliva. And sometimes it feels as if it's not there, not exactly numb but there's no follow through when I swallow. I'll also get this really weird sensation that borders on painful, like a fullness and then I'll have the swallowing weakness. My LLMD came back from the conference in DC and told me that she'd spoken to a couple of colleagues who have patients with swallowing issues which they attribute to Bart. This symptom started for me much later than my other ones.

I'm glad you posted.

Do you ever choke? My ENT doctor is very alarmed about my choking, but it's been going on for a long time, and I'm just taking it for granted.

I kinda wish he hadn't gotten so alarmed, bc that makes it harder for me to deal with things.

I tend to choke more on liquids than on foods; how about you? Do things get stuck in your esoph.? That can be very painful.

I haven't experienced the choking so much but have had food caught. I do have more of a problem swallowing liquids as opposed to solids. I'm sorry your ENT alarmed you, I've experienced that as well and it's truly unnerving. I see you have Bart, have you been told this is a cause of your swallowing difficulties?

''Touch or weight of clothing on or against body causes discomfort or pain''

One of my first symptoms 2 years ago (when my health issues started) was intense heat on my legs caused just by my jeans touching my skin. It was so weird. I don't remember if it was painful but it was definitely disconcerting. Is this smth anyone else encountered?

Yes, I had intense skin sensations (pain from clothing/water touching my skin) before I started treatments with my first set of infections. For me it was all due to an overload of toxins, once I got my body detoxing decently, the intense skin sensations slowly went away.

I believe it was due to the intense attack against the nervous system that causes this - and of course too many toxins in the body.
