Ceftin and biaxin...anyone?

Last Dr. appt., he switched me from ammox to ceftin. So, I took a three day break, and have started the ceftin, and will add the biaxin back in in a few days. (I was on the biaxin with the ammox, but took a three day break from antibiotics)

Has anyone been on these two together?

I haven't had any significant improvement lately...so hoping this will make a difference.

4 1/2 months and counting.

I haven't been on the Biaxin but thought maybe this would give you encouragement. My LLMD works with Dr. J in D.C. and she said he says Ceftin is the closest thing you can get to an IV treatment via a pill. Not sure if that made sense but basically it's a staple when healing from Lyme.

I have been on ceftin and biaxin and malarone and tinidazole for about 7 months - I have done fine with them.

I think I improved the most on ceftin, flagle and doxy.

Im now on just biaxin, flagle, and stopped improving.

Astro - were you on ceftin , flagyl and doxy for several months?

Yep all three for 7 months.

First three months were hell. It was physically and mental challenging, plus i still worked.....But felt the best in 25 years around 6-7 months.

Month seven liver #'s went nuts (not all that uncommon), went off all ABX, liver like new!

It was the ultimate eradicator / exterminator LOL.

I hope I can feel that good again. Biaxin and flagle arent getting me better now. Were all different though.

I just asked you about your liver on another thread... Lol

So how come you don't go back on the trio that worked - or is that not possible because it will affect your liver again?

Both abx I am on have short half lives - I think Ceftin is one hour and Biaxin is 4 hours... So not in my system at a high dose for long.

I see the doc soon, I'm sure the ABX will be switched up. LLMDS do pulse and change so the bugs dont develop resistance.

I was on ceftin, but haven't been on biaxin at all. I think the ceftin made me herx about 3 weeks into it. It is similar to rocephin since it is a cephalosporin. the main difference is its a short lived drug, 80 minute half life. It is more effective if taken with food. It is very easy on the stomach and very easy on the thrush. Rocephin has a half life of 6-8 hours so it is at a peak level for a much longer time.

The half life is short on Ceftin - I read an hour...problem is my second antibiotic - biaxin has a relatively short half life, too - I think it's 4 hours. I am dosing only twice a day...so hoping that will work.
