Hi All,

I have finally been diagnosed with Lyme (after requesting the test from my doctor) after 10 months of suffering.

I am looking for some support and advice from people who are going through the same thing.

My main concern is the chronic chest pain and heart palpitations, but the palpitations are more of a skipped beat than beating fast.

I am also suffering with arthritis in my hip (according to recent X-ray) joont pain, extreme fatigue, brain fog and horrendous stomach issues. The stomach problems have got to the point where I now have a gluten free, sugar free, caffeine free and saturated fat free diet!

I should mention that before all of this I was an otherwise healthy 25 year old male and a new father.

I'm not sure what other people's experience is but this is crippling!!!

I have been on doxy for 3 weeks but am nowhere near better, I seem to have good days and bad days but the bad seem to outweigh the good... Is there an end to all this? I have another appt tomorrow as a follow up with my gp (who isn't a LLMD by any means) and I am thinking of demanding to be given the IV antibiotics as the doxy isn't working...

Am I right to do this? Anybody else trying to get by with a non-LLMD?

Any help or guidance appreciated with this... To say I'm fed up with all of this is an understatement... Any other advice? Can I be doing more?

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and by no means an expert. But, after having seen many many different gps and specialists for over 4 years who could not diagnose or treat me, i can confidently say that if you aren't seeing a LLMD, you will regret it. There are many resources on this site and the internet to help you find one.

There doesn't seem to be one in my area (Bristol)... The closest I can find is a 'tropical disease specialist unit' that my gp can refer me to apparently?

How are you progressing, are you getting better?

I only seem to see people suffering for months or even years despite treatment...

Hi Duarte and welcome to the forum! The first thing I'd suggest is that you read through the "New to Lyme" thread at the top of the page. There you can learn a lot about Lyme and things you can do to help your recovery, such as detoxing (very important) and diet, plus much more.

Next I'd suggest you find an LLMD in your area. You can start a new thread asking for one in your area. Many people have wasted time by not going to one.

You should be able to have saturated fats if they are the healthy ones. Grass fed beef is on source of healthier fats and coconut oil is a good one too and it has some antibacterial properties to it. Disregard if your doctor gave you a good reason not to have fats.

With Lyme disease, you have to learn to be patient since it's not a quick fix when you've had it for a while.

Thanks stonewall and garden peace,

I've had a look at the new to lyme post and am doing most of it already.. Have a green smoothie (nutribullet) everyday and find that it does help...

I need to try and find an LLMD somehow to get this sorted once and for all... It's driving me nuts..

Welcome to our community!!

If you would send me an email, I believe I can help you find a LLMD in your area. The list may be old and things may have changed, but it certainly would be worth a try!

IV abx may not be a good choice for you, so weigh your options carefully. Many can heal without IV abx.
