Chinese herbs that my herbalist sent me

I just received a package from my new herbalist (the naturopath I was seeing admitted that she didn't have much experience with chronic Lyme and relapse, so I found an herbalist in Maryland who is basically treating me over the phone).

In the package she sent me something called QING DANG WAN and Xiao Yao Wan. I'm still waiting to hear from her on how and when to take these things but I wanted to get some opinions and see if any of you have taken this or anything similar. I am so nervous to take anything that I've never heard of before because God forbid I have a better reaction then need to go to the hospital, those doctors won't know what the hell I'm taking.

She also put me on cell food, digest gold, and primal defense ultra.

If anyone knows anything about these herbals please let me know I have a very sensitive body it seems especially my tricky heart which seems to be thrown into arrhythmia fairly easily.

Thank you so much! I will definitely update how things go with them. I did some Google searching and it seems like the Xiao Yao Wan is used to treat gyno/menopause/painful period symptoms, as well as supposed to be calming for panic and anxiety. My Lyme symptoms become much worse two weeks prior to my period, making it so that I only have one half decent week per month. I hope these at least help with that. Can't seem to find much on this Qing Dang Wan.

I thought she was sending something to treat Babesia, but so far it doesn't look like either of these are it.

I would encourage you to call her and ask. It's actually quite difficult to find much reliable information about Chinese formulas on the internet - I've tried many times while I was using them, and I just tried finding these now. I found one, but it didn't really give much information.

Grace—you probably know what you're doing but thought I should mention that before I understood I had lyme, during my desperate search for answers I was trying to find a good reference for a TCM specialist and I had several people caution me to find someone who is at least 5th generation. So perhaps even though the source of your herbs isn't a Chinese practitioner, it might be helpful to find someone to consult with.

Traveler, I left her a message when I received them, but unfortunately I rarely hear back from her until a couple of days later. I told her that I would start the supplements first and start them slowly, so I'll know what's causing a reaction, if I were to have one. I just wish I was on a well known protocol rather than these obscure herbals.

Pirouette, I've been trying to find someone more knowledgeable with herbals for awhile but the closest I've found (2 1/2 hours away) is Dr. Zhang in NYC. I have taken his protocol before and believe it works, just not sure if it would work for me this time, since I have relapsed. When I've called to speak to Dr. Zhang I ended up speaking with his office manager, who I really could not understand well at all, which made the call frustrating.

The herbalist that I have now just got her doctorate in Chinese Medicine within the past few years, and before that she was an acupuncturist who treated many Lyme patients. I wish I could find an herbalist in NJ with a good success rate in treating Lyme that I can actually see in person.

Understood… I really hope you have some success. Anxious to find out. I have been thinking about trying to find an acupuncturist as well—just need to get a little more settled in my treatment first. I'm completely overwhelmed right now.

I have a good friend I met while living in NYC and is 2nd generation Chinese so I thought for sure she could recommend someone to help me and she was clueless HA! Not easy to find. Will keep trying myself and I will let you know if I find anyone. Yes, I understand wanting to see someone in person.

I just heard back from her office. Her assistant said that the Qing Dang Wan is for Babesia, and the reason I can't find anything about it online is because its a blend of herbals from Plum Flower dispensary. This of course makes me nervous because anything I can't research I don't really trust. I could be wrong about that though. Is it normal for there to be an herbal blend in pill form that doesn't list it's ingredients?

She also confirmed that the Xiao Yao Wan is for my painful periods and I'm to take 7 tea pills twice a day for the week leading up to my period to see if that helps my symptoms.

Hi Grace. I just began treatment with the practitioner you are referring to in MD. I went to her because close friends have had so much success with her. How has the treatment gone?
