The section on detox is very important...as your mom will want to get this started as soon as possible. When she starts treatment, the die-off of the bacteria will cause a dumping of toxins into her bloodstream. This, in turn, causes an increase in symptoms (called herxing). The detox methods will help rid the body of the toxins, and help reduce/minimize the herx symptoms.

Thank you for the quick replies. I will be sending emails shortly. Yeah, we were able to get a hold of oral doxycycline through a trusted friend. She has been on it for 2 weeks and she experienced nausea, dizziness, and increased weakness on the right arm. I read about curcumin and she is taking that. It got rid of the dizziness and the nausea, but the arm is still weak. The paralysis is in the legs. I keep telling myself it's the herx, but it's freaky. I'll be on this forum frequently. Need all the support I can get. This has been rough.

if she is just starting doxy, I would be cautious with the dose. Everyone is different - Traveler I herxed horribly just on 100mg twice a day when I first started it so my Dr had me increase the dose slowly until I reached 400mg - and once I was on the 400mg for two months, it had become too toxic for me. I would always suggest to begin the doxy at 100mg twice a day, and if the person is in the clearing, increase it as they are able to tolerate it.

Be sure that she is doing enough to detox too. This will impact how well she tolerates the meds.

I should have added that you need to explain to you Mom that she needs to add in the detoxing routines one at a temperature and to start off very slowly. Detoxing too fast can cause it's own herx reaction, and we don't want her feeling any worse.

Does your Mom have an allergy to milk weed? If not, then she likely can take milk weed. If she does have an allergy to milk weed, then she could have a reaction, so caution needs to be used.

While I would recommend that someone be with your Mom the first few times, she likely can start off using an Epsom salt and peroxide foot soaks. Have her only use warm water and only keep her feet in the soak for 10 minutes to begin with.

She could also very likely do daily dry skin brushing and oil pulling without much concern - although, again I would encourage you to have her start one of these each week. That way it won't overwhelm her body.

During this time she could do the MTHFR gene mutation to see if she has this issue, as it could change how she should go about some of her detoxing.

She needs to be eating a diet of as few prepackaged meals as possible, and drinking lemon water as well. Remember, the more toxins !that go into the body means more that has to be detoxed out.
