Hello everyone,
So here it is : I think I may have Lyme but it seems my symptoms don't fully fit. I was bitten by a tick in late August and removed approximately 24 hours after I suspect I was bitten. For months I've had no symptoms whatsoever, and no rash of course.
However, I started having flu-like symptoms in December. I was prescribed antibiotics for 8 days, and a week later I fell ill again, with the exact same symptoms : first a fever, then sore throat and a runny nose. The second time I had no time to see a doctor due to exams so I treated myself with over-the-counter flu medicine. It's been around three weeks now and although I am no longer feverish, I still have tension headaches, fatigue, a sore throat, stiff neck. I also did notice my eyes hurt more than usual when looking at the computer. I may have alcohol intolerance too: I've drunk quite a lot but not considerably more than what I'm used to for New Year's Eve, and yet I remember nothing of the first five hours of 2015 which has never happened to me before. I was reportedly not in the best of states, too. I've done nothing but rest these past few weeks so these symptoms, though they are quite mild, have really lingered too long.
I went to see a doctor a few days ago and told him about
the tick bite, but he told me I shouldn't worry because tick-related diseases don't provoke ENT symptoms. I'm obviously quite skeptical about
that, judging from what I've read on these forums. Oddly enough, my blood pressure was beyond normal levels, which is a first to me (I'm twenty years-old and run and swim multiple times a week). He blamed it on me walking fast to the appointment because it was a little late. He diagnosed me with strep throat and sinusitis to account for my headaches and runny nose and prescribed antibiotics and anti inflammatory-medicine for five days, that I've started to take yesterday.
So, do you think this could be Lyme in spite on the lack of rash and of symptoms during the first few months ? It feels like I have what people call first stage symptoms at a time when I should be experiencing second-stage symptoms and my BP seems to be high instead of low (though I've seen similar cases on these forums), so I'm really in the dark here. Also, is taking just five days of antibiotics a good idea or does it risk making Lyme (in case I have it) more resilient ?
Thank you all for your answers
Julien
