Hi there - after no conclusive answers from doctors, I thought I turn to here for some help. I'm an otherwise healthy 27 year old male, but since October have been feeling especially ill. I also felt sick with un-diagnosed causes all of last winter and last spring.
My primary symptom is extreme fatigue, but also have a lot of aches and pains, especially in my legs and back. I also have headaches and what I can only describe as "that sick feeling." Additionally, I seem to get a cold/flu like illness on a recurring basis - every month or so. These symptoms were especially worse in October. I was tested for Lyme disease by my primary care physician and was told the results were positive. I did a 3 week dose of doxycyclin. After feeling a little better, but still experiencing the symptoms listed above, I was referred to an infectious disease doctor.
The infectious disease doctor didn't actually think I had Lyme, since on the Western Blot test I only tested positive for two bands (p39 and p41). He said I needed at least 5 for a technically positive test. He had me re-take the test (this being a month and a half later) and again tested positive for p39 and p41, but no others. He put my odds of having lyme at 10% and discouraged me from going back on the doxy.
I'm still feeling pretty crappy, but can't seem to get any explanation for my symptoms and am very frustrated. I was wondering if anyone else has only tested positive for these bands and if it turned out they had Lyme or not.
I'd really appreciate any input! Thanks so much.
