Does anyone here have a portable infrared sauna?
I am looking into getting one and have some questions.

First- can you just place it on any floor of your house- even a wood floor? Or does it get wet ( from heat) and need to be in a bathroom or tiled floor?

Second, are the portable ones easy to set up and take down?

Third, do they work well and are they comfortable?

Fourth, are there some that have lower EMF than others?

Are they safe in terms of being a potential fire hazard?

any brands to recommend? I am especially looking for a good brand to get ( of the fold up less expensive kind) as I know some are better than others.

-Also, is there a big difference in use between the cheaper fold up ones and the wood ones? I mean are the cheaper fold up ones as safe and effective as the more expensive wood ones?

Oh, it was not a big deal, just weird that it disappeared :)

I was just saying this sounds cool, I wish I could help you with it, but it's the first time I've heard of it and if you get some answers and find you like it, maybe you could tell us more about it?

I have read other old threads and discussions on this but am still not sure which is the safest brand of the portable ones. The nice wood ones of top quality obviously seem better but I can't afford one. So I am trying to see if the cheaper ones are safe. I wonder if they are dangerous because of high EMF's, and also the plastic issue? Some people said they love them- even the cheap ones. And I just know saunas would be great for me- I am actually surprised I have waited this long to even do it. I could go to a place about 30 minutes away and pay 15 dollars a time to do it- but the problem is that I know it will be tough for me to make the effort to get there. Still, I am going to at least try to do one there this or next week. But having one at home would be much better.

So, still looking for people who actually have and use those portable plastic ones?

funny, I was looking for discussion on this and actually found an old thread of mine asking about this. I had been thinking about doing this a year ago. So the therasage one is the one that keeps coming up in m thread and others as a good one- but, it is 600 dollars--- as opposed to the 200 dollar ones. then the wooden ones are 1 or 2 or more thousand.
Some people said they really liked their therasage and that it made all the difference for them.

I have the Sunlighten Solo with the Solopad. As far as I know, it can be placed on any floor. Mine is on tile. It should be pretty easy to collapse, but I leave mine out because I use it daily. They said it was a low EMF model. I really like it...it helps with pain and relaxation before bed and I *hope* it's actually detoxing me like it's supposed to :)

I am ready to buy one of the portable ones online from either amazon or ebay ($150-$200) but from the looks of them Im not sure if they plug into regular US outlets. The plug looks different like I might have to buy an adaptor or something. Anyone know anything about this?

Theres a new product called Vivir Wearable Wellness that is clothes with far infrared heaters built in. Its battery powered and you can wear it while relaxing or walking. Getting a lot of attention and they say it is going to be on Kickstarter later this month. Im going to try one, I think. Anyone heard of it?

I'm interested in this too. How exactly do they work? Do you have to pour water into something and plug it in? How does it make steam?

The vest seems pretty cool.
I just bought a FIR sauna off eBay for $150. It works by having panels that heat up you control it with a digital thermostat. No steam

I am in my sauna now. I love my sauna. I bought mine on Craigslist. It does not get the floor wet. It plugs into any outlet. Needs two people to set up. Took about half an hour to set up. Kinda like big Lego pieces. Mine has very low emf.

I do sweet a lot from it. I like to get my "me" time in here. I take my tablet and usually check out this sight.

I feel like it really helps me get rid of my amonia issues. wink

I'm in mine right now. Took 30 seconds to set up it just pops up. It's the most I've ever sweat in my life. Absolute puddles lol. I love it can't wait to use it again

You can put it anywhere, you just need to put a chair in it if it doesn't come with one (I think most do but I'm pretty sure I broke mine a few years ago). They're pretty easy to take down and put up, takes a minute or 2 but it just zips along the seam and folds. I prefer to leave it out but it's an eyesore. All I can say for sure is that it induces a really good sweating and makes me feel a pretty good warm, healing kind of feeling, like heating you from within, almost. Usually feel "herxy" a couple hours after, not sure if it's just from dehydration or healing or what! Unfortunately know nothing about the EMF aspect, but I've never started a fire! I don't think it's something that's an issue with them, but of course I'm no expert, just someone who has used one for a few years without setting the house on fire.
